John you’re embarrassing yourself!

Stankey seemed awfully confident during today’s ATG Live. After one solid quarter in a six-year tenure, the tone came across as more smug than self-aware, and the comments about employees didn’t exactly help.

Let’s see what next week brings after Verizon and T-Mobile report. One quarter doesn’t erase years of mixed results or settle the competitive picture.

If I were in his position, I’d spend less time taking victory laps and more time rebuilding trust with the employees who helped deliver the quarter in the first place.

Employees need to band together and refuse the survey. After last year it was proven he doesn’t give one sh$t about us.

The term bloviating id--t comes to mind whenever I hear him speak. It also applies to the majority of his direct reports as well.

You must have shame before you can be embarrassed.

Nobody at John's level has an ounce of shame.

It appeared to me that maybe he had been “celebrating” before the presentation.

Leadership spends months talking about wanting honest employee feedback, then turns around and reminds everyone that the employee survey factors into the year-end bonus.

Nothing says “give us your honest opinion” quite like tying the results to people’s compensation.

If that’s really the message being sent, don’t be surprised when employees start questioning whether leadership wants honest feedback or just higher scores.

A good employee survey should measure reality, not incentivize people to sugarcoat it. If the culture is improving, the scores will improve on their own. If they aren’t, leadership should want to know why, not encourage people to paint a prettier picture than reality.

Good quarter. Stock price is up. RTO is working.

It's been years for me since I left AT&T and I've been here on this board since. I feel a little better when someone says something bad about Stankey.

I hung up after he threatened the employees to be sure and give high scores on the next employee survey, because the results are factored into our year end bonus.

It's been 21 days since I got the voluntary surplus. Coming back to this board (why?) and even picturing Stankey taking a victory lap is cringe. Best of luck to you all.

The kind of people who rise to that level don't really have the neurological wiring necessary to feel things like embarrassment.
