Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

The E-Mail

Honestly, not shocked by the factual information shared but absolutely gobsmacked by the tone he took in the e-mail.

The c-suite and leadership team (who make eye watering amounts of money) are accustomed to communications of that nature but the rank and file are not.

This was the most de-motivating communication I’ve seen from leadership in my professional career.

If you do not care about your employees, why would they care about your customers, your stock price, your purpose, your converge strategy or your guarantee?

You cannot disempower people to that extent and expect them to feel ownership or pride over any of it.

"Why all the drama over an email?"

They have to have drama even if they have to create it themselves. Just do your work.

"Separating gomers from their money for 100+ years"

This! This is AT&T in a nutshell.

Wait for his boat to sink and see how he will get out. Already spend too much for so many lawsuits, data breaches, merger failures but instead of taking responsibility and resigning, he thinks these are his achievements and asking others to get out.

Why all the drama over an email? Are you really that emotionally frail?

I am engaged in my own duties. I don't give any thought to what anyone else is doing. Not my concern or responsibility.

“ I would decline being left alone with him in a confined space.”

That’s where you & I differ, because I would absolutely love to catch that megalomaniac alone in a dark alley (at 3AM).

A very disturbing read. Never met this CEO, but I would decline being left alone with him in a confined space.

The exodus of senior leadership over the past 18 months was an indicator of bad things on the horizon.

"I've depended on coworkers to keep me from dying. I've never been forced to follow a fool into battle. Why would I voluntarily do so now?" ~best departure toast ever

In my 32.5 years every CEO has made mandates which have negatively impacted my ability to do my job. Most times we can adapt or find workarounds to achieve goals and maintain standards. Not so this time. Shareholder meetings need to add a 4 hour block of time to listen to a small sample of the lies and deceit that pass for truth within AT&T. I work in an air conditioned office but I take a hot shower every afternoon as a means to mentally distance myself from the misdirections we push on our customers.

Prior to 1 year ago we would jump through hoops for a Customer trouble at 5 minutes before EOB. That shifted to next day, and sometimes 2 days before we address it. Customer doesn't like it then they can leave. Always going to be more customers. Welcome to The Churn.

Interesting. He speaks of how employees must change but nowhere does he mention that corporate mo--ns need to stop making absolutely re--rded business decisions like the Direct TV deal to stay competitive. What a flaming a--hole. Perhaps he’ll get the United Healthcare executive retirement plan.

@bm

Your sentiment may be spot on - not sure about the cabal part but rather a small minority of people who lack empathy and just want to grab more money and power.

Sound familiar? Your dear leader is one of them and he’s yet again gambling with someone else’s money (ours). It is not going to end well.

Please wake up to your own argument.

Careful Stank. You will not always be up there. There’s a power much higher than you (it’s called God). Your arrogance can be very much quickly yanked for you to come back to Earth. IJS.

Nice of the tone deaf, pajama wearing, shoe polishing, enriched sycophant to weigh-in. All while your fellow employee’s are being forced to comply with business decisions that aren’t based on productivity or morale.

Most heads of business aren’t leaders anymore but part of the global cabal of elitist who continue to enrich themselves at the expense of the working class. With technology and AI, it only expedites their goal of maximum profit with the smallest workforce who they deem as an expense and necessary evil, not value added as years past. Eventual there won’t be buyers at scale to purchase their products but they don’t care as long as they get their’s now.

The new world leader is upsetting the balance with his country first policies and the globalist complicit media which has been muted and exposed to the masses.

"Honestly, not shocked by the factual information"

Actually, there was not a lot of factual information shared. He shared his, or the consultants, interpretation of the results but he did not share any of the information that led him to those interpretations. As well, he has never shared any facts about how his "plan" actually will result in the end game he is looking for. He can't. All the actions he has taken typically has the opposite result as proven by actual, empirical studies starting with the study out of the University of Pittsburgh that was done in 2023. However, we know what the real result he is striving for . . . fewer employees. That is what his actions will result in and that is his true goal.

The email comes down to ONE SIMPLE THING.... For all the people that don't get his message, you need to start swinging you friends and family to the competition. His goals were clear, he is working to position the company to compete with the competition. So for all the people he stepped on, they need to focus on moving everyone they know FROM Stankeys "Final Solution" .

They dont give a Dammn about Employees, Customers or anything/ anyone other than Shareholders and Executives ( their precious Bonuses ). Every Pirate since Ed Whitacre, Randall Stephenson, Etc. has Pillaged, Plundered and Ransacked ma Bell coffers leaving it discarded as an Empty shell of what once was. They only care as far as they can personally Benefit from squeezing every last penny out for their own Gain. The Titanic is sinking and they have long since secured their own luxury Life Boats.
