Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Crystal Ball!! What will happen

Does anyone have any real thoughts on how it will all pan out.
There won’t be HON corp, Right? What will happen to all these Honeywell Country presidents, or positions that oversee all businesses ?
We have a corporate pushing and driving plans locally in our region across BA,IA and Aero, but I’m thinking that type of role will dissolve.

@OP Aero employees should be prepared to say goodbye to unlimited vacation. Aero will no longer be a ‘software industrial’ company needing to attract youthful but experienced talent from other companies. I think Honeywell should retain talent instead of watching it retire. Perhaps Honeywell could grandfather current employees so they keep unlimited. New hires would have the same fixed vacation as other companies and could attain unlimited vacation only after reaching a certain grade (say senior or senior advanced) years of experience or an upper block rating.

honeywell is looking to part ways with 60-70% of knowledge workers over the next 36 months in the now common AI effeciency play. software engineers , especially those doing core API type development are the first to go. support staff are also targeted with 100 percent reduction for configuration mgt, earned value tracking, and certain production tracking jobs. this down staffing is built into the financials being used to justify the split and appears with code words like "focus".
i doubt honeywell IT can make this happen ..but the expectation exists. when it fails , and it already is failing, you will see leaders forced to double down and make the cuts anyway.

@b8 The PAY portion was frozen in 2015. The years of service was capped at 30.

There are just under 100,000 retired employees receiving pensions from HW according to the latest statements to the Government. That number is lower by 14,000 from last year. In other words, the pension funding and payments get easier as people die off. In the next 30 years HW will be free of pension obligations.

I'm sure they wish it were tomorrow....

Look at what GE did when they split up They said they are no longer responsible for paying pensions even when the split companies can’t in the future. Remember Honeywell thinks GE walks on water

Automation, Aerospace, and Advanced Materials are breaking up into three new independent companies. Typically their existing leadership will move from their existing roles to the same with the new company.

Without a Honeywell Corporate anymore it give’s the new company the green light to bankrupt pension payouts and put the money in their pockets Better take the lump sum payment before this happens
