Things must be really bad in the job market if people are asking Ford employees for referrals.

Still are!! all my friends ask for referrals! With all the hate and toxicity you see, it sounds crazy! But everyone wants to work here
What does that tell us
Unless you are in the Detroit area already and for whatever reasons you can't leave, I couldn't recommend working at Ford. In fact, for young people just starting out, stay FAR FAR AWAY! Run, don't walk.

Ford needs to do a reassessment for employee Covid-19 vaccine compliance. It has been a few years since HR has probably updated their records, plus there have been many new team members added since then.
This is even more critical due to the up coming full-time RTO (5 days) directive in 2025.
I really don't get that. Asking for vacancies in automotive is pretty tone deaf right now. 5-10 years from now most of the big 3 have a good chance of not existing. They must be extrodinarily desperate. I'd be mildly annoyed if it was that time to get separated for me. Would I be all butt hurt about it? Maybe for about 5 minutes. Wouldn't make any sense to waste time. I guess if you are desperate it would make sense. If you care about your career beyond a 3 year window it's about the d-mbest move you could make.

It's really bad and we keep importing H1bs. America isn't for Americans anymore our leaders have sold us to foreign lobbies and interest groups.
I think the job market, especially in the Detroit area, is very bad.
But the tech oligarchs still think we need to import more people.
