Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Age discrimination lawsuit

On top of everything else. What an absolute pile of junk this company is. I actually believe the mile long load of BS I was fed for years.

Was this filed under “doing what’s right” or “doing what’s easy?”

@OP unfortunately in some states laying off or forcing early retirement to those over 50 already started to occur before Centene even started the VSP. I’ve been here 12 1/2 years and seen this happening too many times. Some states offer better protections to those who are let go based off their age, but remember this company knows how to package it up to legally protect itself. Some great hard working people have been let go in my state recently and how ironic it was those 50 or older!

I’m still trying to figure out how she “inadvertently” accessed someone’s workday records since your permissions only allow you to see those under you (as a PL this is my experience)

I was subject to age discrimination at Centene to the point that I was forced to resign. I don't know the plaintiff in this case, but I feel for her. This organization favors millennials.

@am only stating facts!!! If she has MORE than just her replacements age as a reason (in this case 40 yrs old), she can have a case. Otherwise, not! This case has the workday access implementation so that is the key, but this is solely not about age discrimination. Wanting to make that clear in case anyone else here thinks just that alone will win the case because if replacement was 40, they fall into the aged category and thus null and void

@ah Do not mislead with wrong legal advice. She does have a case.

I wish she could win but she won’t unless they settle out of court. Main issue is, her replacement is still 40, which puts here in the category for OWBPA -Older Workers Benefit Protection Ac— so they replaced her with her own category. If the new leader would have been 39, then she had a case but her lawyers have taken the case meaning they have more cards on the table than if not, they wouldn’t be wasting their time. Initial findings to file a lawsuit do not have to spell out the game plan !!!! Let’s go Kay hopefully you gut them in the jugular
