Thread regarding Ford layoffs

What does ford make lately?

Im told by a friend that ford doesnt make cars anymore and they gave up on ev (global competition wise) due to china. I heard ford focus was on the trucks but they also said the f150 or whatever isnt number one anymore. Whats left? Or did they diversify outside of vehicles now like how rolls Royce does airplane engines and stuff for example. thanks for the insight!

@OP. What does ford make lately? Recalls... plenty of them. In good conscience I cannot recommend Ford vehicles to anyone.

If the F-150 could dump the rest of Ford: the family/friends, Model e, the Train Station, Integrated Services, and Farley, everything would immediately improve, especially profits.

What year is your f250? Problems should not lead to death.

The verdict – on Feb. 17, 2025 FYI – is one of the largest in state history, punishing Ford for allegedly selling trucks with weak roof structures (strength-to-weight ratio ~1.1, far below the 4.0 deemed “good” by IIHS).

That isn’t the only case. Across years in terms of Super Duty models BTW!

These problems… should carry a SENSE OF URGENCY.

I love my F250. Workhorse. Built FORD tough.

Show me ONE company that isn't struggling in one sector or another. Everyone has issues. 3 months ago it was Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler. Maybe in a month or two it will be GM.

Bottom line is every single company in business has problems.

Jim Farley confirmed in Aug. 2024 that Ford would “not introduce any new electric vehicles for a while” – prioritizing cost reduction on current ones. This means no “next-gen” EV (with new technology or new segment) was introduced or imminent as of Q1 2025. Instead, Ford’s strategy was to improve profitability of current EVs and plan second-generation platforms for 2025–2027 launches. Ford entered 2025 with a gap – no fresh EV products – as it retrenched and retooled its EV approach, go have a chat with Reuters and Bloomberg, Doug. Yahoo Finance noted: “Cybertrucks are outselling F-150 Lightnings” and that this, along with potential tariffs, was hurting Ford’s EV prospects. The only thing arriving is the Chevy Silverado EV.

OP: Model e gen2 products are what you are waiting for. All in time, just hold on. The next era of mobility is coming.

If truck demand falters (due to economic downturns, competition, or shifts to EVs), Ford’s profitability is at risk. In 2008, a spike in gas prices hit U.S. truck/SUV sales hard, and Ford’s finances nearly collapsed – underscoring this vulnerability.

Morgan Stanley analysis found the F-150 franchise was so strong that the F-Series might be “worth more than the whole company” by itself.
