Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Some companies get it when it comes to flexibility

To the schmucks and trolls on this board saying that full time in-office is the standard, if you have level of literacy to read this, you’ll see how wrong you are.

Citi doubles down on WFH, offering two weeks of fully remote work in August. See the memo here.

@ep they never lie, whatever was instructed it was done, and badge was also not working for many days.Either manager didn’t convey those things to HR or HR knew it, but still did it intentionally.

“I personally talked to them. They didn’t do any proper investigation, they might have done random investigation and generalized it.”

Your friend isn’t being honest about what he or she was doing,

@dw I personally talked to them. Its not funny. Its real. Someone life is shattered and company says they did investigation. They didn’t do any proper investigation, they might have done random investigation and generalized it.

“I also heard someone badge was not active for some time, still they terminated under cobc.”

Where did you hear this? On this board? LOL

There were employees whose badge was not active, they work late nights and still terminated under cobc.

@df Totally agree. End presence report , remove employees from cobc and accept it that it is all time blunder company and HRBP has done. Use swipe in swipe out as attendance if you really want to track and terminate. Badge should be active to measure it otherwise benefit of doubt should be to employees.

“ If they would just fix the presence report and the shortage of desk space.

The only fix for the presence report is ending it. We’re exempt employees not hourly factory workers. And many, many companies including ours have seen that putting in an honest days work doesn’t require wasting time and money going to an office 5 days a week. We just have egomaniacal leaders who can’t deal with not having the ability to lord over their minions.

"You need to pick an employer that meets your needs"

I did . . . my needs and expectations didn't change, the bosses expectations changed. And the company even broke an implied contract with all of its employees.

First fix presence report and allocate a desk or allow prior seat reservation then terminate someone under cobc, before that company is doing wrong and they should be barred under compliance.

Each company has their own expectations. You need to pick an employer that meets your needs instead of thinking you have the right to demand the work rules you will tolerate.

If they would just fix the presence report and the shortage of desk space. Most of us have no problem coming into work and putting in a days work.

"Your job requirements state otherwise."

You are confusing job requirements with leadership requirements. Most of the employees have been able to do their jobs over the last 15 years in a hybrid work situation, and the 3 of the last 5 years in a 100% WFH situation. The only thing that changed over that time was the CEO. The requirements needed to actually do the work did not change. As a matter of fact, this company makes billions of dollars "connecting people" so that work collaboration can be done when each employee is in remote location from each other.

"First the 3 days rto was the problem. Then 5 days rto is the problem. 3 would be fine if we could just do 3 we’d be fine. Now we don’t mind coming in if it wasn’t for the presence report."

The problem has been the same from the beginning, A$$HOLE. It was the lying. It was forcing people to move. It was not having enough parking or desks for each of the employees. But you keep trying to justify your Stankey A$$ licking but using false narratives.

@aj Reality is 3-4 days is where most places are settling on. I have no need to come in 3 days but it’s the best compromise. And the presence report is nothing but insulting bullsh!t that they can’t even get right.

Citi’s slow time is August. Well, December is our slow time. Maybe the company could show us some appreciation and allow remote when most of our vendors, customers, and coworkers are on vacay.

The point to the trolls and brown nosers here.. people have lives outside att. What is ki-ling most people is the 8 hours presence reporting which to boot is inaccurate.

3 days rto was working well and if they had kept that and just monitored the coffee badgers and the outliers things would have been better.

But this is rto disguised as layoffs.. and that's why everyone is unhappy and pi---d

Most major company CEO's do not hate their rank and file employees like Stankey. He just loves being vilified!

Job market is tough for certain industries ours is going to get tougher due to automation, outsourcing, offshoring and less people needed to the work. While my better half has turned down 2 offers in the past 6 months- healthcare industry seems to be the sweet spot right now.

@a9 There’s a thing called the Job market. Right now, if you haven’t noticed, it’s kind of cr-ppy - maybe read some recent posts on this board. I have had and continue to have interviews but since literally hundreds or even thousands of resumes are being submitted for every job, it’s a little more difficult to just move to something new just because you want to.

@a5 You could write a textbook on how not to implement and enforce policies like this based on how AT&T has done things in the last two years.

So what’s keeping you from going to work for one of these companies? Instead of running in place
, take care of your needs and wants and get the heck out of here.

From Dell leadership which is sort of pushing 5x. Pay particular attention to the last sentence.

"They are expected to work a regular working day in the office, but have flexibility as needed," the spokesperson said. "Also, team members in global roles may need to take late evening calls and can adjust their in-office hours accordingly."
