Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

PTO Payout rant.

Before the PTO was payed out I checked to see how much PTO I had available .
Surprisingly I saw the amount of hours was reduced even though it was below 80 hours. Perplexed and Upset I asked a COS why my PTO was reduced and she told me the when PTO is payed out the hours of the PTO plus the PPTO combined has to be below 80 hours. Most associates are not going to use that much PPTO because it's for emergencies, inclement weather or sick leave it doesn't make sense for the total of both to be below 80 I think it should only be the PTO hours.
My personal feelings about this PTO payout policy is that it seems like a way for the company to keep associates from going on vacation that so many deserve and have them working longer. I was wondering if the feeling was mutual with other associates?

I used to be a manager for Sams for 10 years. I left because i was the only manager that cared about my associate's well-being more than a visit from Regional AP and i was held accountable for "poor Business decision" all because my leads wife died of Cancer and i approved his extra time off. He only had PTO left as a lot of his PPTO was used for her care before passing. I was told i should have Terminated him for points instead of approving them and allowing him to use his PTO. I'm sorry but i strongly believe that if you take care of your associates, they will take care of you. Sam's does not care for it's associates the way they used to. I worked in 3 clubs in different areas I know how to run every department and if i wasn't sure i figured it out. I worked the floor with my associates and if someone needed to leave i filled their spot. My team would do anything i asked of them if i was working. Other managers complained because they would ask and people would say no. I asked them to jump they said how high. It's a give and take. You can't expect people to bust A$$ for people who don't make them feel appreciated more than a silly pizza party. I would use my own money from time to time and buy the whole team Lunch if we knocked out big projects. At some point you have to learn to let go and i was tired of the constant fight and watching my back. I miss it but i would only ever go back if they treat the associates better.

How about make it all just one and cal it pto time and if you have some use it and if you don’t it can call for a point . It your time !!!! Should not be two different kind . Sad that some can have over 100 plus hours of pto time built up and still get a point.

Sounds like you do not understand how pto and ppto works… Them turning your PTO into PPto is great.. PPto is worth way more than PTO

@am+1jmhh18c2 but will gain the PPTO back? I feel like PPTO should be saved in case you need to leave work early for a doctors appointment , bereavement or sick leave etc. This is just one of many bad policies the company has implemented

You can use PPTO for vacation, least that's what I've done in the past. Especially around this time of year if I don't have any PTO because of it being cashed out. How this helps.
