Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Wouldn’t it be interesting to challenge the members of our C-Suite to work a REAL job at the bank?

They must be exponentially more experienced, knowledgeable and skilled than us right?

Charlie can be a teller for a week ($22/hr, joy). Derek can trade a risk position on the Fixed Income Desk while answering phones at the same time. Bei can answer questions on the HR Phone Tree (no pressure, Bei - we’re used to getting a different answer every time we call.) Scott can work a back office operations job while sharing duties with a team in India. Michael can work in Accounting and enjoy the new ridiculously inefficient bill management software program. Barry can service the top tier FA’s he attracted to the bank after they discover the bank isn’t set up to handle top-tier clients. Saul can work on any of the Technology Helpless Desks.

Oh and they must work in the office without an assigned workstation and move all their belongings to a locker at the end of the day. Phones will be recorded and they will of course be monitored for computer usage, email, and network traffic to ensure productivity security and compliance.

Unfortunately they will be at risk for layoffs but should give 100% every day.

Let them live in the horrific red tape BS world they created for a week… constant rule changes slowing productivity and threatening made up deadlines.

It’s the DEI nonsense… for the sake of appearance only… look we hired a female CIO ! Then quietly demoted the same failed leader… AI is years behind our competitors/2024 payments disaster/ Data center outage/etc.

Since the frontlines will become India they should all go over there. Over there they should actually work -- not play. Yeah I know this is BS

Saul has not been CIO since 2023, when Tracey took over… then last year Bridget assumed control. All 3 couldn’t handle any of the lower Software Engineering roles.

They don’t want to get close to the frontlines, the customers, without their business execution 'executives.' Why? Plausible deniability. When the sh*t hits the fan—and it will—they’ve got a fall guy ready to take the hit for Wells Fargo’s predictable fumble. Need an example? They hired scrum masters to ‘implement’ Agile, but instead of digging in and adapting the gig themselves, they tossed it to these sacrificial lambs. Agile flops—who’s out? The scrum masters, first to get axed in the blame-shifting circus. Execs just smirk and cash out.
This is Wells Fargo, straight out of Amy Edmondson’s book on psychological safety—or the total absence of it. The fake account scandal? Management leaned on the frontline to cook up accounts without consent, then played d-mb when it blew up. Landed them in regulatory he-l—asset cap’s still on, 7 years later. They want teams to gel, but it’s Hunger Games out there: trust’s a joke when they don’t trust you. How can you build anything real when it’s all a Survivor episode—bully, blame, and dodge?
Agile’s supposed to be about tight teams, not this cutthroat game. But with no safety, no fixed seat, no identity—just the constant buzz of layoffs or your job offshoring to Mumbai—it’s a setup. Frontline eats the mess, execs run the scoreboard. That’s psychological abuse, baked in from the top. Same cr-p that sank them before. Anyone still in this grinder? How’s it feel knowing the axe or the offshore boat’s always one play away?

There used to be a TV show called "undercover boss". The real CEOs go undercover to see how the front line employees and their immediate bosses are performing. The undercover CEOs also have to perform the front line job so that he/she can directly observe what his employees are doing. Most of the CEOs miserably failed to perform the basic work.

The similar analogy is the differnce between high school graduate soldiers who know how to fight in a front line vs. college graduate lieutenants who do not know how to fight in a front line.
