Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Imagine working for a company as a manager…

you have somehow normalized and rationalized taking a picture of yourself with a timestamp, and sending it to your Boss to “prove” you’re at your job when you’re supposed to be, where they have not provided a seat or workspace for you…because they have developed reporting that erroneously says you are not in fact there.

This is where we’re at folks.

@aq+1jmz88aw “dialing back the drama?”

Really…

That will happen if and when “leadership”dials back the insanity of their actions.

You reap what you sow, employee sentiment is in direct correlation to how they are treated.

An effective people Manager is suppose to know what their Team is doing and where they are. How would a Manager not know if one of there Team members is working 2.5 hours a day?

— and towing your car while parked at that said LOCATION. Not enough parking that employees were forced to park outside the designated areas. Next time, I will hold a newspaper, take a picture of me holding the newspaper while at the office.

Good for you! Your situation is certainly NOT what the majority are experiencing. You can see that from reading responses from this site.

You do you.

Not assigned, but I get the same desk every day. Let's dial the drama back to about a 6.

Reality

Get to the office, but we can’t “guarantee” you a seat (the floor doesn’t count) and don’t even THINK about asking for an assigned seat.

ha. Scrambling going on is right. They hid that report faster than Pelosi hid her insider trading receipts. Someone from the .gov must have came knocking and put them on notice. There is always a devious purpose or a CYA involved with everything they do.

Concur on the Viva Engage thing— hard pressed to find anything now re: Presence Report, Average Hours Report.

Sure seems to be some scrambling going on.

Yup. Zero trust and zero thoughts on results.

Managing people is not measuring widgets +- .005" People require different feedback, encouragements, and corrections to meet a team result. Some need time off or other stuff for legit reasons. A great manager can create a great team incorporating all of the above. I hope to do it, until I'm fired. We are all humans. Sc--w them, I can be a decent person 'till I'm gone.

“ What is also interesting is that someone asked for the link to the Presence report on Viva engage and the conversation was ended and deleted”

That page has gone private now, no more posts or anything, is something wild going to happen soon ?

Glad I left when I did with my head held high. I could no longer drink the Koolaid they were handing out. Morale was at an all-time low going into the office 3x a week. We weren't allowed to see the presence reports at that time. I now make 2x the salary I did when I worked there and work remote. I love my new company! There is life after AT&T!

Imagine being an executive where your managers don’t trust you and are actively trying to leave everyday and everyone actually hates your guts. When in the office everyone socializes over the mutual hate, and almost no real work gets done. RTO was never going to last.

It sounds reasonable to me.

Imaging being a company executive where your managers were only putting in 2-5 hours per day when working remotely. WFH was never going to last.

The data is so bad. There’s a week where it shows me here 12 hours every day and I’m 8 and skate. The following week there are 2 days showing 5 hours when I get here and leave at the same time every single day.

How can you throw this sh-t in our face when the data is wrong?

This is exactly why I’m interviewing with Verizon. We aren’t respected here. They don’t provide the basic necessities to work.

" This is shameless way to force us out to quit or retire..."

Well, we all knew that.

But this latest wrinkle, where they are using reporting that doesn't work to make a false narrative and force employees that ARE complying to work around the flawed reporting is truly a new low.

When's the next culture survey?

This is shameless way to force us out to quit or retire. 160 miles to return to office. No relocation or package. Just get in the door hopefully find a seat or get out of the company. All that matters is that they are not using the word layoff or surplus because that would hurt the name but saves the Stockholder money.
