I left after 15 years +‐ but, still have 1 or 2 friends in Calgary. All I hear when I talk to them is how much technical work is being transferred out of country. I have no idea but, would bet that heavy oil isn't really competitive for capital nowadays (maybe Cold Lake since it's econs are pretty closely tied to NG but doubt there's anything left there to develop)... Any of y'all hear any rumors on that BU?

lol, one of the big reason I left was because I DIDN'T want to work in Calgary. I'll give it that it's more laid back than the Woodlands but, you get all of the toxicity with zero exposure to anything cutting edge (not that I've seen any of that for a long time) or new. Especially with the way they've gutted and sold off IMO's heavy oil research team. Back when it was on UofC's campus they did some pretty cool stuff. ymmv, but I'd not touch Calgary with a 1000' pole.
Zero investment in oil sands. I’d love to work in Calgary but not a chance that will happen.
