Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Have you noticed

Many colleagues are retiring on their own? Not waiting for some kind of package. What gives? I have been to the Ford Garage twice this month, and noticed at least two retirement lunches at each visit. I find it odd that they are doing it in March not last November (before the pension numbers went down again).

Any insight?

The reason is simple. Profit sharing payouts are in March. Quickly followed by retirement.

Fields? That was after Fields.

And Bill is behind that. He's su-king up to his Ann Arbor college buddies.

When they shoved DEI quarterly objectives and goals onto our plate in 2021, and Farley and Fields indicated they would go right along with deep blue California and NY and other deep blue states on the mandated EV rules (2035), this was a major sign to leave if your job involved innovation in IC engines.

1000 people voluntarily retired in November 2022, with no incentive other than to avoid the 23% lump sum cut.

This was after the April and August 2022 cuts and voluntary retirements in which deep engine experience (including 3 great chief/directors) was cut, pensionable or not. This was the writing on the wall.

Unforgivable.

If you know 30 people, on average, one of them will retire every year. It’s just the way numbers work.

It's been that way for years. People have different reasons to retire at certain times, and until relatively recently, it wasn't that common for mass retirements due to packages (or the IRS increasing rates to reduce pension lump sums).

Every LL6-4 I know who hired before 2004 but is not yet 55 / 30 has a countdown clock. Until then, you keep your head down and mouth shut, do your job, fill out your Perf+, accept your 70% ACIP without complaint, and pray to get to the pension vest date before getting BCG'd. Those who are vested are sticking around hoping to be SIRPed and given their 9 month severance. The LL3+ leadership is toxic.

I also noticed some lower LLs took retirements on their own. Possibly under pressure from upper managements.

RTO 3 days a week is making people retire or quit because office life su-k out your soul.

A lot depends on when they hit 30 or 35 years of service, or they turned 55 or 59 1/2 or another milestone age.

But even not retirements. A lot of people quitting of their own volition. Some without another job!! That's telling. This place is toxic
