Drowning in work

Exxon's bleeding talent, and the rest of us are swamped. The leadership acts oblivious while we’re stretched thin. Wish I could leave, but sadly, jobs are scarce right now, and that's putting it mildly. "Be grateful you have a job" doesn’t help when you’re burning out.

Yep, got technical people that actually know things working on multiple teams and meanwhile I have a manager who blocks off their calendar at least 3-4 times a week for kid activities and a project manager who just “follows the AI summary” in weekly meetings. Big fun these days

Exxon has too many middle managers and executives. And too many deadweight.

It’s especially bad for experienced hires because they bear the brunt of the workload. Overtime it leads to burnout, PIP, and mental health issues. Don’t let them bully and dump work on you. Draw your boundaries.
