Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What's happening to this place?

I leave on the dot and suddenly I’m the lazy one? Someone on my team keeps acting like I’m not pulling weight just because I don’t hang around after hours. I always finish my work. Since when is that not enough?

Fu-k your teammate who acts whatever way or says whatever. Come to work, do your job, leave. This company doesn’t give a sh-t about you. Don’t go above and beyond for them. Sounds like a corporate bootlicker to me

Class Action Lawsuit for unpaid Wages ……. the Expectation to work off the Clock without entitlement to Overtime. If Enough employees complain, a Class Action suit can be filed to recover the lost wages.

“Market based cultures are like that. You want more, pay me. Talent is mobile and jobs are fungible.”

Right on until you used the word fungible. That word is beyond tinkerbell status and puts you in the category of… of… well nothing. You are now nothing.

Wellany 1st level managers can be fired for working unpaid overtime. So if you are staying, they better be paying.

This is a bot post. Nothing specific to AT&T, don't feed the bots.

Sup for 25 years. Had people who could spend a week and not solve a problem, and had people who could solve it in an hour. Guess which ones I took the most care of.

You need both, but there's nothing special about clock watchers, regardless of what chrome dome thinks.

There are 24 hours in a day, yet you are only working 8 hours--step it up

@b6 great reply. Your wife and kids will remember you as the absent parent. Your boss will never care or remember you.

My dad worked too hard. I never had him around. He died at 58.

Do your 40 hours and spend the rest of your time with people who will remember you!

To the geniuses bashing this guy: I will list the people that will remember you putting in extra hours:

  1. Your spouse
  2. Your kids
Note that your boss is not on the list

This isn’t harassment. It’s called accountability.

“Tell the someone on the team that if they keep harassing you, you’ll file a COBC on them”

Tell them you hope their medical & life insurance are paid up.

It's not suddenly. You have always been the lazy one. You have just been caught.

“Dedication is about giving more than 100%.”

The road goes both ways. You are a fool still thinking that way in a market based culture. They really don’t get that at the top. They need to incentivize people to do more, go above and beyond. When I gave way more than others, I got nothing extra in return. This is a job, I work here to make money. If you aren’t compensating for my work and the value I deliver, then I will work to meet expectation and nothing more. If you threaten my job, I will do just enough to get by and leave. That’s where we are. Market based cultures are like that. You want more, pay me. Talent is mobile and jobs are fungible.

Never work more than 8 hours unless you are getting paid overtime.

It's all about the measurable results. If you are contributing more in terms of quantifiable metrics than a troublesome evil team member, you need to rally the team against that individual. We have some members in our group who act as if they are managers. It's time to stand against those who are trying to assume a managerial role without the authority.
