Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Imagine yourself as super workaholic that 'made it' to upper management.

Let's face it, these people in upper management have made lots of money for many years. Either they are really d-mb as bricks at saving/investing or just love their jobs more than their freedom for some odd reason. 100 years from now even their relatives won't even know their name. Thinking about it some more, If I made what they do I'd be retired pretty quickly and happily pass the baton. Why do any of those people still work??? Certainly not for money at all. I personally think they are lost souls with some odd addiction to power.

@nj+1jt29qyaw, you asked if I responded to the right post, and you think I'm angry. I responded to the part of the post that asked "Why are these people still working???" My opinion is that they have lived beyond their means. I'm not angry, I'm just making an observation. I took the last VBO, but several people I know couldn't afford to take it, because of all the reasons I stated.

Spoken like a little entitled baby who is well versed in FUMU ( F up move up) and wants to keep on moving or is a product of LEAP where the classes get together to compare salaries and titles in an effort to win their imaginary race for bragging rights - despite learning anything other than how to su-k up. Sad

@bm+1jt29qyaw What’s your deal? Are you responding to the right post. Your anger doesn’t make sense in context of post

Wait, the OP cares about someone in their family that lived 100 years ago? I know I sure don’t.

They are probably the types that feel the pressure to keep up with the Joneses. Big house with expensive furniture, new cars every few years, vacations every year. Then of course the kids have to have all the newest toys, technology, and designer clothes/shoes. The kids have to go to private school, get a car handed to them at 16, and have college paid for by mom and dad. They get too caught up in appearances and then they can't retire at a decent age.

@b8+1jt29qyaw The arrogance that reeks off your comment is so thick I can barely respond. You are a judgmental POS that thinks everyone should be like you. FU! Why don't you walk a mile in someone else's shoes, maybe someone that isn't a white male.
You are a pathetic POS with nothing else to do but come on here and judge others. If we knew your story Mr. perfect, I'm sure it would be riddled with racism, deception and hate. Go look in the mirror and figure out why you're so unhappy and then worry about your own pathetic career. Je-k! No one cares what you think.

Annnnd 3, 2, 1, cue that one boomer on here who says “we can’t retire, we have to stick around and babysit you children.”

That’s BS by the way. There are so many boomers still working, that they didn’t do a VBO this year because it wouldn’t be affordable.

I’ve wondered too why people in their 50s & 60s are still working, like just retire, you should be more than ready after all the generous profit sharing and the bonuses and shares. I do think a couple things are at play… 1) thinking they’re indispensable, and 2) you typically don’t get to L9 and above without having that type of personality that craves power and influence and your self-worth depends on your accomplishments. There’s a high concentration of narcissists with a high concentration of blind spots.
