Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Internal mobility for higher roles is a scam

It's waste of time. I applied for over 80+ positions in the past 4 years, for promotion roles. I got few responses and like may be 5 or 6 initial interviews. Except one position, I am pretty sure that all other interviews are fake and they just interviewed me for documentation purposes.
Everything else is an automatic rejection email. Internal mobility for higher roles is a SCAM!

For every role posted, HR requires hiring managers to interview at least 3 candidates minimum. First hand experience, the hiring managers already have someone in mind by the time the role is posted. Could be an internal promotion for someone on the team already, could be an external hire that they interviewed previously. Usually it's a personal connection from their caste that is giving them kickbacks in india. They are just going through the motions to meet HRs requirement. I was stunned when the head of group told us to hire their friend that had less experience and qualifications than a monkey in a suit. I briefly thought about opening an HR ethics complaint, but then realized there are no ethics at citi and the head of our group would 100% retaliate. F*ck this place.

Exactly. The Only way UP, is OUT of Citi.

Internal employees have a better chance of getting hired EXTERNALLY BY A NEW COMPANY, than by Citi, whether it's an In-seat Promotion or New Job.

You need to get sponsorship from senior leaders for C14 or higher to even have a chance. I opened a C14 role in my team and had over 300 applications in 36 hours. We pulled 8 people into first round interviews and 5 came through internal referrals where an MD vouched for a candidate. You need to take career into own hands and have people reach out to HR and hiring manager to even have a chance for an interview.

But the worst part is NOT only do you ONLY GET a Slap in the Face 👋🧐 10% 💵 salary increase, if or when you finally get the C14 / C15 / C16 job Or In-Seat promotion its Fvcken Years Later.

NO one wants to wait years or Never to finally land an internal C14 / C15 / C16 job and to add insult to injury, Get Only a BullSh!t 10% 💵salary increase!

An In-Seat Promotion delayed, is an In-Seat Promotion Denied ! All while Citi Stalls the employees and continues to Dangle 🥕 the Fake Promotion Carrot in the Employees' Faces to Stall the employees from Quitting/Resigning !

Be aware of when you're being played for a Fool !🤡🃏

The reality is that many employees treat it as a short cut to promotion and are completely unqualified for the position. That means that qualified employees get passed over because the assumption is that you cannot get promoted in seat, and if you're that good...why can't you get promoted in seat? Unfortunately when 800 people apply to every C14/15/16, it's luck of the draw or connections.

Yep. You need to know somebody who knows somebody, but eventually you will get it; it takes a lot of work and relationship building. The best part is that when you finally make it, you get just 10% more.

Internal mobility is a myth today. It is the same across all banks, not only Sh---y. Just due to the fact that they are spoiled for choice plus the lack of transferable skills / institutional knowledge really - BS jobs can be done by anyone, including nepos ..
