Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Was that it? We’ve heard layoff and promotions were today, if we didn’t hear anything are we just being shuffled?

I've been flipped from a Geo to Global role - still in same function. A friend - in another function - was flipped from Global to a Geo. So I think there's a bit of shuffling also happening.

@bwk There are plenty of roles that have been banded incorrectly. Especially individual contributors that handle a process or reporting but have no direct reports or no approval authority for just about anything significant yet are banded E&S.

Not the persons fault if they were banded or promoted or moved or repositioned incorrectly but it’s still an error that should be fixed.

Historically the brand didn’t demote (most) people band wise when their job changed to less responsibility or was eliminated, so you would have so many people doing less critical jobs that they may have had prior and making way more than the job permitted.

So instead of looking at what’s being lost now (if that’s the case), look at the unfair advantage so many benefited from for so long by being in a higher band than the actual job being done due to legacy or grandfathering.

@bwk if you have skills that you can take somewhere else, take the severance and your self respect. There are a lot of companies hiring. Others have been told there would be no down leveling, only severance. Guess HR lied again.

I was offered a demotion or take a severance. I would be dropped down a band level and lose a lot of my total compensation. I guess 6 years of highly successful CFEs meant nothing.

I was laterally moved to a backwoods role but thankful I still have a job. Tons of good people let go, not a lot of promotions That I’ve heard of. Shockingly so far all the E bands I know are safe

There are a number of conversations to be had at this level. Will take a couple/few more days to get everything sorted.

Late week you should have a meeting with superiors to outline new org.

Hang in there. Remember there will be more people remaining than are let go. Think positive and control what’s in your power.

Good luck to all.
