Does your review actually mean anything at Nike? Promotions are non existent so is there any benefit to getting Exceeds Expectations over Achieves? Genuinely curious.

No reason to go above and beyond and it’s been that way for years. Just do the bare minimum and job search. You won’t be rewarded any more than your co worker that spends 3 hours on their lunch break and comes back drunk.

Evals at Nike have never meant anything. Promotions are not based on merit. The only time they matter is when they’re bad and they need them to be bad to justify getting rid of you. Aside from a potential higher bonus %, even if a leader gives you a realistic chance of achieving it, they’re absolutely worthless.

As long as you are a b*tlicker you are good. The rating doesn’t really matter. The amount is determined by just how much you sck*d up. Are you the teachers pet? How hard you actually work isn’t taken into account. Writing the reviews and self evaluations - what a waste of company time and money. NONE of it matters. It’s who you are, what you know and who you know. Clock in and clock out.

no, had the highest rating possible many times, and it got me nowhere, managed to skirt layoffs, but that may have just been luck, who knows....have since departed the company

I'm going to add my data point to the previous replies that I put in more effort than I should have last year to end up with a very lukewarm "achieves expectations" (lukewarm referring to how it was delivered by my manager). I wasn't even really expecting a higher rating (more often than not I've received exceeds) but after many years I've learned that there is ultimately very little difference between the two in terms of actual impact to my pay or career trajectory. You can work 5x as much and get maybe an extra 1-2% salary benefit out of it (or none at all if the budget is not there).

The problem is that your rating is most heavily governed by the political will of your manager to fight for it with their peers (they all have to bargain with each other in closed meetings to award a smaller and smaller pool of exceeds ratings). It's not really as much about what you actually did or achieved than it is about the politics. A politically weak manager means you'll never get much of anything either in ratings or pay benefits.

I have been doing nothing the past year. Just showing up to the office and su-king up to the boss. Got a meets expectations rating anyway.

It’s a complete and utter waste of time and makes no difference.
Not worth the paper it’s written on.

I had mine and I believe I’ve had the best year of my career……and I got achieved.
So expect very little.

They need to bring back the years when your performance rating could get you bonus multipliers...never understood why they stopped this.

There is not a reason to grind. Promotions have stalled, minimal PSP, stock is probably go to drop hard after earnings tomorrow, and Leadership has no plan in place to turn the ship. Mine as well just do enough to not to get fired.

Nothing. 50 here with a Far Exceeds last year and an Exceeds this year. Max salary jump was 6% last year and 4% this year, which is just laughable. Zero opportunities right now for upward mobility and barely any openings across the company. Honestly making me question what the point of grinding is.

Like everything at Nike, it depends on where you are at. For certain grades, performance reviews can result in additional stock rewards, and for 55+ where they actually look at you as an individual, it can have an impact during re-organizations and succession planning. for most of us however, it's not really a factor, and hasn't been for at least since the start of the pandemic.

There’s no connection between performance review and promotion / layoff from what I have seen. As long as your review ends up with achieve then you are good, don’t waste time trying to exceed that. This company rewards talkers more than doers, just remember that.
