@gh You know there are shadow orgs in India and Mexico right? Their local leadership has assured JF that they are ready and more than able to do the work NA and Europe presently do for a fraction of the cost. It doesn’t matter if they are indeed capable as JF will leave the mess for the next CEO to deal with.

There has been a ton of benefit modeling originating from Ford HR. The volume required increases in storage sizes to support HR efforts.
This volume of modeling typically only occurs at the yearly benefit selection time.
The volume also increased just prior to the 2019 layoff.
Something definitely is afoot.

@hs Same color as the average Ford executive sees at their board meeting with their head where the sun doesn't shine, I gather.

@dt although the statement seems to align. I don't agree with the numbers unless they are counting hourly workers and global employees. In my area, there's been more people who have left than replaced since 2017. If we lose 1/3, we wouldn't be sustainable. Also, Ford Pro is a fairly new subsidiary and is growing so I can't see how they would let 2,000 employees go.

There was another discussion about Ford’s efforts to offshore engineering to Brazil, Mexico, India, China and other LCCs, and the practice of replacing American workers with H-1B visa holders.

They’re all doing it. It’s like a management fad.

Read this: (I’ll copy most of it here)
https://x.com/thejobchick/status/1940274721125540258
[the following is from the post to X]

Companies Likely to Offshore U.S. Tech Jobs (2025–2026 Watchlist)

• Citigroup: 3,000+ H‑1B IT hires (2020–24), mostly contractors earning $48K less than U.S. staff [Bloomberg]

• Verizon & AT&T: ~2,500 H‑1Bs filed in ‘23–24... offshoring code via vendors [USCIS]

• Cognizant & Infosys: 650,000+ workers, 80%+ based in India [Company reports]

• Capital One: Filed ~2,500 H‑1Bs in 2023 alone... aiming for AI savings offshore [USCIS]

43% of U.S. firms plan more IT outsourcing by end of 2025 [Everest Group]

India dominates H1-Bs, but Mexico’s outsourcing surged 20% in 2024 [NASSCOM]

Heavy H‑1B visa usage often precedes or parallels offshoring activity, particularly in IT and tech support roles.

So do I open his for debate? Ya'll will do it anyways...

Are H‑1Bs fueling innovation that the world needs... or just replacing U.S. jobs?

All the strange behavior makes sense..darn it..
The tea leaves are definitely lining up that way.
HR requests for technical experience, RTO, mysterious meetings.

Here’s another gem.
Ford wants to emulate a tech company?

Look what Microsoft is doing:

6,327 H-1B visa requests!!!
That’s what Microsoft filed for software engineer roles in Washington…
Yes, that is the same month it laid off 2,300 workers in the state... including 817 software engineers.
Same jobs.
Same location.
Lower pay.
Is this really about a “skills gap”?
- 14,181 total foreign labor requests this year
- 82% below market wage
- Routed through Integreon (India) Pvt Ltd
- $3B invested in India
- 10M workers being trained in AI

Here are the tweets, in a case you cannot see it on X:

If Ford goes early, July 1 fits the news cycle logic.
But I still think the real move hits between July 8-26 - possibly not until August/September, when Q2 wraps, MNPI windows close, and RTO enforcement has cover.
From a workforce POV... it looks to be in tranches.

===============

That is a clustered Ford family divestment, timed just before or during the plant shutdowns and well before public headlines caught up. 👀 That’s textbook: “we know what’s coming” behavior.

CLASSIC layoff signals.

Especially when you look at the rest going on with the workforce and line up the rest I am modeling.

Insider Name Date Filed
Alexandra Ford English June 12, 2025 and May 16, 2025
William Clay Ford Jr. June 12, 2025 and May 16, 2025
Henry Ford III May 16, 2025
Jon M. Huntsman Jr. June 4, 2025 and May 16, 2025

===========================
Ford Is Setting the Table for Mass Layoffs

Factor Timeline Job Chick Analysis
RTO Mandate Sept 1 Sets up the 'filter' - then layoffs follow once attrition fails to close the gap
Q2 Ends June 30 Ford needs time to finalize books & structure charges
Q2 10-Q Filing Late July Could pre-announce or signal intentions here
Potential Layoff Timing July 8–Sept 30 Matches historical patterns, Q2 wrap, MNPI window lift, and RTO enforcement ramp

@cw nobody is bleeding Ford blue anymore. My sibling was in the market for a new full size SUV and I told him not to buy an Expedition last week.

@cv Exactly. Why should I "bleed Ford Blue" when these conmen are jumping ship? They can go fu-k themselves. I'll go bleed GM blue instead.

Nice thing about this is that it could be wrong, but its hard research that someone with a reputation on the line has put out there. I'm more inclined to belive this then I am the new "I have it on good authority..." guy.

This is an interesting example of one of the things to look for using the impending layoffs at Microsoft as an example:

” Remember how I said always watch for Director/Exec long PTO -- well $MSFT Sales Chief to Take Leave of Absence Ahead of Layoffs. ”
