Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

CS Town Hall

This town hall was an exposure to just how bad cyber security is. The three main takeaways from the town hall are:
Use artificial intelligence and less engineers/technical people.
By the end of this year and forcing Azure MFA on all employees even bank tellers which means use of your personal phone for the authenticator application.
On your own personal time you are expected to learn everything you can about artificial intelligence the cloud and other enhancements of your job because cyber security will not give you said time during the work day to learn changes in your own area.

For those who are not aware I hope that this town hall shows just how non-technical our Wells Fargo cyber security executives are. Because they do not have strong technical backgrounds it is very likely that Microsoft is telling them how to do their job in the manner for which benefits Microsoft and based on the information shared at the Town Hall the executives are not putting any faith in the engineers that fall below them. If you looked at the internal jobs postings you probably have noticed over the last few months that cybersecurity is hiring a lot for administrative roles like managers or agile leads and not for analysts or engineers. Cyber security is getting cut for its technical personnel and those same technical people are expected to ensure that they are replaced by the artificial intelligence agents they are expected to build.
With the MFA enforcement push I'm pretty confident that there is legal issues with a company like Wells Fargo demanding that their employees put software on their personal devices and use it for work purposes but they're not going to pay you or reimburse you for that internet usage location tracking nor are they going to support you if there is some kind of issue with MFA being registered on said device.

Reject the authentication app. You can apply to opt out. I haven’t heard of an opt out being rejected yet so try it. I approve my employees requests to opt out. If they want to authentic via phone they can get me a company phone.

At least it seems WF hasn't changed since I was there and we slashed all the backup and DR experts. Get bonuses this quarter and the next quarter is someone else's problem....

@c9 Not sure what you mean by it wearing off. Every app I support is migrating to the go-forward cloud platform (hint: it's not Azure).

Cyber security has had layoffs and loss of skills. So people are paranoid about security requirements but lights are on and nobody is home to review and advise on security requirements.

The CISO talked about the successes of the implementation of the Information Security Evaluation Tool self assessment process. What he failed to mention was that dozens assessors were let go, which is really what he was happy about as he gets a bigger bonus.

Our "Cyber security" leaders don't keep up on Cyber news. If they did they would be aware of all the attacks that can be used against AI to retrieve company and customer information.

@aw so it appears the AZ-900 Kool-Aid is wearing off. They are discovering that the applications developed by the so-called engineers are so poorly composed that they can't be migrated.

For months, I've been telling everyone here that cybersecurity was going to be offloaded with the move to cloud. Anyone who took the AZ-900 training should have caught that, it was one of the main selling points.

No more computer security salaries, no more desktop support salaries, just a single monthly subscription to a Microsoft service.

Yes, because this is our CISO’s first ever security job. You could pick someone fresh out of college with more experience and capabilities.

You also missed the part where we will now be required to use CLEAR.
