Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Here's some advice

I am a former UHG employee. Went on to join another Health Plan. And I recently joined the federal government several months ago. Please take my advice seriously I am not a troll. Take the buyout if you can. If I can speak to myself a few weeks ago taking the buyout at the federal government I would do it right now. I am a parent of children and I was recently laid off from the federal government due to my probationary status. Knowing what I know today if I could I would have taken the buyout. These are tough times and I am not happy to be part of this. I now find myself struggling to find a new job along with thousands of federal employees. When you are let go because you reject a buyout they are not as generous. This is as good as it going to get. If you have a good nest in savings stick it out but if you have a family that depends on you take this buyout now.

I agree with this 💯.
As someone who has been RIF'D 2x, the second time around they're not going to offer severance or any sort of compensation. They'll just tell you that you're out.

Take the buyout / severance offer. UHC is a lost cause, save your sanity.

No other job/company can know you were offered a buyout and you didn’t take it. The only information a company is able to give out by law is, did you work there and when. Any additional information and you find out, it’s grounds to sue

Nobody cares if laid off versus buyout. It would be a plus since you made a rational judgement and moved on from a deteriorating situation. Future employers only care about how cheap you will work and how much abuse you will take. Young will work cheap and take abuse since not aware of the world yet.

I am afraid not be able to find work in my career field again if I exit on my own.

I am in the field that sponsors a large amount of H1B visa workers. These visas push down the age of the workers too much and I am considered older.

Not taking a buyout puts a large target on your back at every place of business.
