The sign maker, EMTE, come on now. What an acronym! Could be a little more creative! Full of EMTE promises!

EMIT has always been a sore loser.

Obviously, when you talk about Geoscience you mean “Geoscience management” which is no doubt one of the worst ones, although it’s a close competition.

Combining F&L and Chemicals seems to make sense due to manufacturing sites. But, on the other hand, there are no obvious business synergies (I would say none) and even production now is diverging with more ethane crackers that do not need crude resulting in stand alone sites like Corpus Christi.

Not sure that this merger was necessary or will produce any results.

Yes, geoscience lost, but they assisted in their demise. Pre layoff bloated staffing, mis-allocation of resources ( who remembers the exploration group run by the blonde tyrant that lingered on far too long), management over-development (routinely had “pets” promoted to supervisor roles……supervising groups of 4-5 people), the list goes on. Generally poor business sense. Even now the bad habits are persisting….still bloated…..and still management-developing for roles that won’t exist in a few years.

Merging F&L and Chemicals was so overdue.

It would be like a single upstream site having a Management chart for liquids and a management chart for gas. No logic.

Downstream double dipped for far too long.

Should have been combined in the previous century.

Losers: EMTEC

Anyone notice the FAQ about Compensation on the goto/EMTEC site? Do the Upstream salaries go down or do the Downstream salaries go up in this “new” Company?

Winners: ExxonMobil Environmental Poison and the many snakes lurking within EM low level management grass who are ready to strike and bite anyone and everyone to move ahead in their career.
Talking about the snakes, notice the ones who have lately started to tout DIC out of no where as this is a new management buzz word?

Losers: Society, Environment, Hard work and talent. Intelligence. Originality. Creativity.

Geoscience is now officially third rate in a second rate company.
This has come full circle. 20-25 years ago the company was at the top of the industry and Geoscience was undeniably the best in the industry, in many respects more appealing than the academia.
A lot of new hires in those days planned to stay only five years with the company, to get the technical skills and “trained by Exxon” on their resumes, then go and make big bucks with smaller companies.
Now if you’re looking for another job in the industry you’d better not brag about five years in the dumpster.

Yes, Geoscience is a great loser here, but not only because the P and SVP on top of it are not geoscientists and couldn’t care less about it, but also because now Geoscience is buried two levels down from company president level. In the new EM, which is now a Guyana-Permian Production Company, Geoscience is treated as the fifth wheel. Any experienced geoscientist would be d*umb to stay, especially given that retirement for the unsponsored is now unattainable.

Sounds like Geoscience as a whole are the losers. Given the two listed winners and their track record all geoscience loss big time. Those two guys are part of the reason for this big mess.

It would seem that the VP’s and EVP’s that were forced to retire are the real winners. They get to keep their millions in RSU’s and walk away to enjoy retirement.

Elmer Fudd will never get his rabbit. Humpty Dumpty has lost his breaks and contacts and his abilities of a-s kissing, being a good sunflower and drinking the koolaid just are not good enough anymore.

the winners would be anyone with the guts or luck to walk away from all these corporate mayhem and get a life.

I'm sure there's life outside of EM, even for top execs whose CLs are 45+. They have all the money they need, and it's not all unicorns and roses in EM. It's a blessing to walk away

We are an oil production company and a chemical company. Everything else is a burden and a distraction to be minimised.
