Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Let Trump know what Optum is doing!

American healthcare workers must demand that Optum stops the offshoring of critical IT and cybersecurity jobs. Optum is actively shipping American livelihoods to India, putting patient data security and domestic families at risk. We need to reach out to President Trump to help keep our jobs in the U.S. and end this globalist offshoring.

Ask your representative to help pass the HIRE act introduced last year. It taxes US corporations for outsourcing to overseas workers.

What alternate reality have you been living in for the past decade that made you think Trump cares at all about working class people?

He looks out for himself and his fellow elites, that’s it.

Trump connections to UnitedHealth: https://www.citizen.org/article/maga-250-103m-in-federal-contracts-flow-to-trumpified-freedom-250-events/

UnitedHealth Group

Background
UnitedHealth is the biggest health insurance provider in the United States, and controls nearly a third of Medicare Advantage plans. Overall, approximately one-third of UnitedHealthcare revenue comes from Medicare payments.UnitedHealth faces allegations of overbilling the federal government for Medicare/Medicaid services, denying care to patients to maximize corporate profits, violating patient privacy, and more.

Federal Interests
In 2025, the DOJ launched a criminal investigation into UnitedHealth’s Medicare business that remains ongoing. It subsequently secured a meeting with senior Justice Department officials, including the AG’s chief of staff, Chad Mizelle. Per the Wall Street Journal, Mizelle and UnitedHealth execs discussed the investigation, which is “unusual for a company facing an early-stage criminal investigation, former prosecutors said.”
United is also a significant provider of Medicare Advantage plans, and won big from the Trump Administration in 2026 after CMS said it would boost payments for Medicare Advantage plans by an average of 2.48%, which amounts to an estimated $13 billion annual increase in payments. UnitedHealth’s stock surged by 8% on the news.

Connections
UnitedHealth donated $5 million to the Trump-supporting super PAC MAGA Inc. in 2025, and spent a record amount to hire a slate of Trump-affiliated lobbyists during the second Trump administration.
Trump’s portfolio sold between $1 million and $5 million in UnitedHealth shares on February 10, 2026, and accumulated potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars more in between February and March.

Scott Gottlieb, Trump’s former Food and Dr-g Administration Commissioner from 2017-2019, joined UnitedHealth’s board in November 2025.

Tarrif per overseas employee? I don't know. But there's a way to do anything in this world. You just have to be an innovative thinker.

It’s shocking that you think Trump would care about this. Over the past year he’s attacked health insurers and even put his DOJ on our company.

You’re talking about a person that is getting paid by big tech companies to keep H1-B visas around aa well aa the ability to offshore work for cheaper labor. He claims he wants to bring work onshore, but even his own companies heavily utilize offshore work and H1-B Visas.
Reversing this would directly impact his donors as well as his own companies.

While most of us agree that we need to penalize companies in some way for not hiring citizens, he’s the absolute wrong person to ask.

Well during UHC open door - they told the group exactly where they are going. 2/3 of the customer service reps will become “concierge calls”. Their “COVE” which is manned by 12 people can handle problems in real time. Avery will expand to all members so much like Alexa the member doesn’t need a real person to manage their problems. Hopefully you all get ready for something different.

@cp How would you tariff healthcare? We you have to pay a fee for each unit of healthcare that comes from cargo ships into the port of Minneapolis from India?

@OP
Submit your specific complaint through the White House Contact Form, call the White House comment line at (202) 456-1111, or write directly to the President at: The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20500.

To make your message as actionable and visible as possible: Be Specific: Name the healthcare company, specify the exact jobs being offshored (e.g., medical billing, IT, or telehealth), and provide the locations impacted.Highlight Consumer Impact: In online discussions about offshoring sensitive data, users suggest emphasizing the data privacy and security risks to American patients.

Contact the Domestic Policy Council: The Domestic Policy Council handles labor and healthcare priorities for the administration. You can direct your message to their policy staff.

Tag on Social Media: Publicly sharing your concern and tagging official accounts on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) or Instagram can help draw the attention of the administration's media and communications teams.

Agree. Trump talked up tarrifs and bringing manufacturing back to the US, but what about us? Healthcare companies offshoring American work is the same issue. Maybe tarrifs should be placed on companies sending American jobs overseas. We do need to get it out to the current administration about what is happening. If they really are about Making America Great Again as I believe they are, then they would be willing to put some restrictions or tarrifs on it.

It is uncertain how the outcome of the Iran war, the power shift in the gulf states to Iran/BRICS, and the strain in US Israel relations will change things. This IS a massive change we should all be watching closely.

In addition to all that, the US is in fiscal dominance. It has to re-shore from a military perspective which will override corporate interests. The dollar is being debased. And we have major social unrest rising.

All these changes combined, will at a minimum, force other countries to unpeg their currencies from the dollar - this alone will cause the FX spread advantage to greatly lessen. If Optum is continuing to offshore then they are making a grave mistake.

Major changes ahead for the US - these are geopolitical and out of the control of corporate/globalist interests.

Um... I wish there was a way for this little anonymous forum to re-introduce you to reality. The Trump admin is like when private equity buys a business - they're all in on exploiting resources, burying the business in debt, and selling off assets until the whole thing crumbles and they can move on to their next acquisition. The off-shoring is not a bug - it's a feature.
