Wave/365 question for Technology

Is it true that Wave is expected to be replaced by Win365? That would be much more preferable than a non-persistent OS I can’t tune to my role

And people "raising their hands" seems to have gotten a lot of hands slapped, so those same people now keep their mouths shut, so they won't be on the low end of any "guided (aka forced) distribution"

I don't know cr-p about tech, all I know for sure is that whatever WF does it won't work and getting support will take forever and have to get escalated several times. VDI probably is total garbage, but if it can ever be made to work I'd like to use my own PC.

Is OneNote in scope for records retention? That's a Pandora's Box, right there.

It is a steam pile of fe--s that the desktop people want to serve to you as the future of end user computing.

I do not know a single actual end user who does not hate using the VDI.

@cty+1lP1AlMH F You and F canning OneNote. Literally the best intra-team sharing application/function/feature we have available. Everything else available (in my neck of the woods) is straight trash. Teams Files dumping grounds, great way to make Teams even slower. NFS file share, straight blaarrrg dump. Oh but sharepoint sharepoint sharepoint, yes I totally enjoy needing to use the cloud to browse to another blaarrrg dump, force it to open files in a fat client so I don't have to d!ck around with spotty cloud performance.

You just summed up the entire problem with Technology changes here at Wells and showed that you are part of that problem blanket stating OneNote should go away. Teams or people can't be bothered to look at things outside of their own little box. Look at, oh heck I don't know, Puppet rollout, VMTools rollout, Splunk updates, OVO turndown, WAVE, DMAN's move to CLOUD (and subsequent move back), Autosys updates, FFS every week its something new, some catastrophe because all the monkeys here can't/won't stand up and call out bad decisions. "It worked in the LAB!"

You keep on doing you, it's working out quite well so far.

As of the end of dec, 73k had moved to Horizon Wave, but that's not Wave exclusive. Starting the beginning of February, roughly 1200 will move to Wave every week, with a certain percentage moving to Wave exclusive as well. WF hopes to have about 150k on wave at the end of the year with 35% of those exclusive and counting. No way they are giving up on Wave. Now, they are giving up on HCPA. Once everyone moves to HCPA and X amount move to Wave exclusive, OneDrive will be rolled out which will replace HCPA and will allow users to keep data on their Wave desktop, etc. Right now, users can request full access to using OneDrive, but those are few and far between as it's still in pilot. Yes, you can access one drive from Wave, especially the users who use OneNote, which should also be canned like pst's were.. But, it's limited right now.

Can't expect WF to implement any technology well because leadership doesn't promote a culture of engagement. A lot of us working on these different platforms like WAVE know full well that it is exhausting to even try to suggest improvements and then have a way to really drive it home. We are treated like children and middle management is too chicken sh1t to have our backs.

Last I saw was WAVE was expected to be rolled out to 200k users by the end of this year.

The whole program needs to be trashed.
