Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

How much do you think client facing roles will be affected?

Taking calls with clients, tenured licensed rep of 5 years wondering what it might look like for me and mine

I think it would depend on whether you were hired to support integration or not. You probably weren't though so your job might be slightly more secure than the rest of ours.

They won’t cut phone representatives yet. that could happen in May but we are very busy and that would not as we get to tax season.

@cvd+1o3GfLEn "You make the $".... that thought needs to change if this company is going to survive. We're a team and there would be no money without our operations, compliance, tech, and client facing folks.

You make us the $. Unless there is a performance or other HR issue, you should be fine. They need to cut back office costs.

My guess is they are will try to avoid client facing positions. Though there are exceptions, e.g. if you are part of a low producing branch and the costs of the building are high they will likely want to shut it down. Similar to what they did with offices... too expensive given the number of employees in them.

I would expect a round of layoffs sometime after the last TG group. Schwab hired like crazy to cover the additional calls from integration. After Sept, the bulk of the work is done... so maybe a wave of client facing spots will be taken out Q1 next year? Just speculation but it seems likely.
