Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Anyone who has recently resigned

Did the bank let you work out your notice period or were you asked to leave immediately? I know some groups used to ask you to leave immediately if going to another bank.

If they require a 30 day notice with the policy, but then let you go prior to those 30 days, I feel like that would be ripe for a lawsuit. Even if at will employment.

Ha ha, I was ahead of them. When I left I blocked all of the right phone numbers. There are a lot of Cognizant H-1B workers in New Jersey who are now helplessly calling over night.

Not that recent, but I left in 2017. They had me work my notice period, as I had a lot of knowledge to document.

The night before my last day, I got a support call that went into the morning, and they had me stay beyond 4pm on my last day to attend meetings.

I gave my notice a few weeks ago where I gave my manager a few months lead-time for my end date. Even though I am retiring, they have said nothing about ending my time early. I am expecting to continue working for the next two months until my end date.

Yes I worked out my notice period. What happened in my last week I got approved sick time (you can’t cash out sick time) so that was basically a vacation, and I turned over my work before I left. I tried to make things be an easy transition because I started with no help and didn’t want the same to happen for another person.
