Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

At some point clocking in and out will be back

The RTO requirements are flawed. Dell requires 3 days a week but no set amount of time in the office. That seems like a big gap in the strategy. There will be people staying an hour or two and then leaving. What will that accomplish? At some point they will start tracking hours and we will essentially be clocking in and out. Save yourselves!

Hello former Dell friends. I’ve told many of you to get out, there are plenty of great opportunities out in the real world, you ALL have valuable skills that are being wasted. You know this to be true, what are you waiting for? If you want to take your career to the next level, it will never happen at Dell. Your people leaders are there to hold you back, not move you forward. The first day after I left Dell was the best day of my life. It can be that way for you as well.

Imagine if the company spent as much time and money actually working on cutting edge technology instead of nanny style policing initiatives.

One of my customers requires badging in and out of the building, you need to badge in on your floor and badge in if you use the gym. There are signs for no piggybacking on badges. You don’t need a time card to clock in and out. They know

@dgo+1rkjpczJ maybe Dell should treat their people like adults, and then they won't have to be monitored like children

people leader here, this was actually a topic of conversation in a leadership meeting. there is a site in AMER that has the problem of people swiping into the building grabbing coffee then heading home. Niall the isg global lead was not happy about it and asked what HR would allow to be tracked, ie time on the network in the building or the like.. last i heard legal was reviewing what could be tracked. if you read the login warning on your laptop there are a few lines insinuating that they can track every click and site as well as location.. so i bet something will be coming in that regard to making sure you are in the building for the allotted time its now a question of legality. the thing that scares me is that some one will have to police this...

Interesting, our VP said there was no set amount of time required. Which, again, seems d-mb to me.
