What is ghff ex deal with so many people thinking they can take a boot camp or could of classes anc suddenly be a data scientist? Seems to be the thing for ex-Exxon people to do. Is it working out?

All the data scientist posers are going to ruin any chance of real data scientists who want to get out of landing a job. If you are a legit data scientist better get out now before being an ExxonMobil data scientist is a death mark in your resume. So many posers who know nothing applying for jobs as data scientists. Soon you will be blacklisted if you are from ExxonMobil and never get an interview again.
Data science at ExxonMobil is a joke of the highest order. Exxon has the most incompetent data scientists in industry. Insular and arrogant fools. Any worth their salt do not work for Exxon.

Maybe those (mostly geos) will get hired back at Exxon after the real data scientists leave for better opportunities in companies where decisions are made based on data, evidence, and science. Not gut feel, hog laws, and top down.
Have you seen how many from heavy data analytics roles have left voluntarily, and the jobs they land? A lot! The “digital transformation” is a hollow of nothingness.

Sounds like a scam since most of those jobs have been going to India.
It’s not just ex-Exxon, it’s the whole industry being flooded with these bootcamps taking innocent peoples money promising high tech Software and Data Scientist roles. At best the DS boot camps will lead you to a glorified data analyst role thats titled as Data Science. The people that I know are in actual data science jobs come from a strong statistics and math education/background.
They think data science is the same as creating power point presentations.
