I’m honestly shocked by how many outdated, out-of-touch engineers are at WF. Some clueless managers even go around calling themselves engineering leaders, and there are engineers inflating their titles to things like ‘Architect’—it’s a joke. WF engineering is an absolute mess.

Nothing like server maintenance with 50 apps on it.
Try doing something as useful and theoretically simple as separating out a database that is on a server with many shared applications, then get back to me on innovation. This place does need innovation as much is it needs to start getting fundamentals right.

These dinosaurs are protected by Wellsfargo. Many 10 years, 20 years, 30 years coasters.
Too busy filling out paperwork and attending pointless meetings to tinker or participate in hackathons.
This shouldn't be much of a surprise. The environment isn't conducive to being hands on and sharpening one's skills. We give lip service to innovation and other things, but doing almost anything that is current, much less cutting edge, is pretty hard unless your part of the special group of people. You know who actually has time to tinker or do things like the hackathon? The folks in India. Look at the teams that participate or even win the hackathons-- all pretty much in India.
These mofos can’t get a job outside so they stay in museum like Wellsfargo.
