Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

To anyone worried about LR

Why worry about LRs all the time? Follow the lead from LC. Go check the recent LinkedIn photo post of a boat, quay and a dog by LC while on her PTO. How quaint.

Be quaint. Take your forced PTO while the company saves money. Then you get laid off and Liz goes for a nice cruise in her boat with her dog.

Take that PTO. Don't worry, be happy.

Recognise that Change is the ONLY constant. And this is the best place to work.

It is modern slavery but when awareness was raised of how slaves were treated by their owners then slavery could no longer survive.

You can thank California state government for making life unaffordable. Not every state in the country is anything like the cost of living there; agreed. That is why so many people are leaving for other states; it is impossible for most to even realistically get by with a lifestyle that reflects the amount of work time and effort spent.

They keep you worried about your job so you keep your head down and don't rock the boat. Its the same in real life. They keep you terrified and paralysed so you keep chugging along, another cog in the wheel. And we buy into it because we are obsessed with consuming. We're nothing more than robots doing the bidding of the masters.

It's the same in all Big tech. Same in all big corporate. The system is broken and as long as we stay stuck in the mentality that this is normal, we will never get ahead. We need to get out of the rat race, become self reliant, get back to community, as many said, we can't afford a house anyway... stop wasting your life in "prestigious " corporate.

“Don’t have a victim mentality and move away from that area.”

It cost money to move and some people value being near family. The solution might be focusing on stable government jobs with solid retirement/health benefits.

It’s not like 1982 anymore where you can work for AT&T and get a pension… pay off your house in 10 years

Don’t have a victim mentality and move away from that area. If you want to stay in Cali, there are plenty of areas that are LCOL. In the midwest you can have a nice house, money to live, etc. Please just keep in mind why you moved when you vote.

Saw her post on LinkedIn yesterday & thought it was a bit tone deaf. Most of us cannot afford a boat or similar luxuries.

"Advice to red badges: you should have been maxing out your Roth IRAs all these years."

All my income goes to rent, health insurance, and food. Maybe the North Carolina Red Badges can think about a Roth IRA? In California, we are focused on survival... and forget about ever owning a home

"As your AI guru I can tell you this: the future is smart, just don’t ask the machines for fashion tips. "

I am starting to understand why Cisco is in the shape that it is in currently. LC posted this on LinkedIn. So right there on a public forum, she let EVERYONE know what she and all of the Cisco ELT know about AI.

Seems like this privileged information should be hush hush to keep the other AI players at bay.

Be happy to take forced PTO but don’t make the mistake of taking your own PTO because you will be looked at like if you broke the law.

Advice to red badges: you should have been maxing out your Roth IRAs all these years. You can take the original principle out at any time. Too late now if asking what to do.

Red badges aren't even people. They can't retire or have a stable life.

Where is your advice to all of the unpaid red badges during these forced times of unemployment? Oh, never mind, they're 'non-employees' and don't count.
