What's the best way to get a package if you want one?

Act “old”. Repeatedly mention that you are looking forward to retirement “in the next 10 years or so”. Believe me, they’ll hasten your departure (with cash!).
@dq+1jrtw4ayd. Sometimes being the one who is kept when others are let go is the worst possible outcome as you will then be doing the work of several. I’ve seen it happen many times. If you can take the pkg and retire/or move into another position, go for it.
I had the same dilemma. I could have busted my butt and been put on a “keep” list, but that would have just forced relocation. My boss was a low integrity azz too busy with petty politics, so I chose to just quietly quit producing much, just enough. I hated to behave like this, it caused problems with my valued business partners, but it was time to flush him and this BS this job had become. Definitely a “don’t throw me into the briar patch” moment every time I spoke to him. Got the package, but others were cough, cough “saved”.
Order from Amazon
You can influence getting yourself fired for cause, but not for getting a severance package.
So long as you are non-Indian and you refuse to continue working like a slave you will be fired.
To get a severance package, you need to do 2 things:
- Be a hard worker
- Live in the U.S.A
I don’t know about everyone else but I got to Amazon.com when I want something and they send it in a package. If you are doing some shady dr-g deal package then I’d suggest you get off of this board and to some other one. Either way, I don’t do that so am not an expert.
