Pause the work visas! And those who are gate keeping should get fired. Lawsuits will be coming in due to racist hiring practices.

It’s not a problem , it’s by design and working as expected or better.

  1. In 1990, there was no offshore who provide same work as H1b. So it’s unlimited H1b.
  2. H1b who currently replaced by new young H1b, same thing happens to US citizens since last 15 years. Companies argument was skill gaps but it’s always wage. Same is happening now.

Basically , companies will go for cheap and energetic workers. First they replace not wanted US citizens with H1bs. Now after 35 years (which is similar tenure for anyone’s prime time career) , existing H1bs become older. They can not compete with new young H1bs in terms of energy and new technologies. So they are being replaced with new cheap H1bs.

I bet if all those old H1bs , converted to US citizens or GC, there will not be this much noise. But noise will come from other part of societies as those who become US citizen or GC will compete with other US citizens differently.

I think problem is length of temp work programs itself. H1b was introduced in 1990 and by 2003 it’s clear that it’s not needed based on many research papers submitted to congress. Now what we have is just pure corporate greed. That is why many calling for scraping all temp work visa programs altogether. Data says , 95 pct f1( international students) , H1b and offshore all tied to same two or three countries ( India, China, Mexico, Canada , Philippines) that proves that it’s all about cheating and game.

It’s time to scrape all temp work visa and keep only 1 merit based program with wage and strict cap. All other low wages programs must be for 4 months max with mandatory 2 years stay out side USA requirement for reapply.

@OP Yea... Problem for years. It happens to many large companies with the precedence established over 20 years ago. Unless politicians in Congress do something about it, this problem will always exist at American's expense. It is bad enough that America currently has a major immigration problem that cannot be solved with both immature political parties. H1B Visas is just another arm to the immigration policies.

BOA will continue to pursue H1B just like any other financial company in the U.S.. We have to deal with it as AMERICAN employees and as customers. Unless the immigration policies change, H1B is here to stay.
