Might be on BNSF rail though, not sure?

@dvi I can think of one train in Wyoming and one in Nebraska that derailed on the same day that would contradict your "negligible impact" numbers.
Didn't have any bubble to burst or different expectations, just reporting news!
Its UP train. Not having been on site I would say track cause. The locomotives dropped down between the rails and slowed causing the end of the train to run up into the locos and accordion when then derailed. Would have been worse if they were going faster. Although its been three years since I took the UP Derailment Prevention and Investigation course.
The derailments caused by crews in the yards were due largely to crew errors, not following railroading 101. So yes, the numbers of minor derailments have gone up due to train handling. But outside of the yard, longer and heavier trains have had negligible impact on the numbers.
I also remember some executives saying PSR was for the good of the company. I also heard the executives say PTC would eliminate derailments by 95% in a video. Trains before weren't as nearly as long and heavy as they are now, no kidding! I dont know where you got your info, but you obviously aren't aware of a quite a few large derailments. I'm sorry to burst your let's praise PSR bubble, but the derailment rate has gone up which was recognized by the CEO himself in the first quarter. You really should know all the facts before you defend something or attack us railroaders. You can remain ignorant of the derailment numbers and their sizes all you want.
This is De-Railroad there was one for sure this morning in Omaha Ne on a Oppd coal train on the BNSF owned track. Supposedly one on the South Morril sub today as well. Hopefully everyone is ok this place is becoming dangerous like the old days.
I don’t understand why some “railroaders” think derailment are some new phenomena. They happen often. On all the railroads. And here’s the kicker... even before psr. No kidding. In fact, since psr, there hasn’t been anything near the size of some of the derailments that happened before psr. Just sayin. Sorry to burst whatever bubble you thought you had.
