Rising costs and RTO

Gas prices jumping just in time for return to office! Who else is stoked?! Good thing my comp review rewarded me 800 extra dollars for the whole year! Just in time

@dx No, we still struggled with the offensive raise but at least we could use our extra $15 on food for our families and not parking, outrageous lunch prices and all the crime that will surround us downtown. This is a kick in the face to all employees. The $7m raise BD happily received will keep funding his privately piloted trips with his mistress afloat. Don’t worry when you can’t afford to put food on the table and spend 3 hours commuting to miss all the events that are important in your life to never receive those moments back yet any bit of compensation .

@dx Wow, a math lesson AND a motivational speech. You really are doing the most. Since we’re running numbers, $800 spread across 52 weeks is $15 a week. After gas, parking, and the $20 Jimmy John’s you specifically mentioned, I think I’ll survive without the ‘chance to shine’ pep talk. But thanks for the inspiration, truly.

So what did you do with all the prior years’ raises? I don’t imagine you declined them. No commuting, no parking, no $20 Jimmy John’s, right? 4+ years of $800 raises is a nice bit of change. Doing some math we can conclude you do a job that lots of people do, and lots of other people depend on doing well. So consider the chance to shine and rise above your peers and earn a promotion as opposed to the truly inspiring advice of minimum output and wasting company resources.

Consider clawing back some of that, in terms of decreased productivity and increased waste of company resources.

$800 a year to re-engage with the in-person ecosystem. Truly a bold investment in human capital. PNC approved a 1.5% raise and felt great about it. But you can’t put a price on spontaneous collaboration and those special water cooler moments. Well, apparently you can. A round of applause for Billy’s true visionary leadership that made this all possible.
