Hello Everybody I just wanted to let you all know that today is the last day for the Kmart Store in West Orange, New Jersey it will be closing at 4pm EST I called the store yesterday and they said that today was there last day RIP to the Last two level Kmart in New Jersey January 18th 2000 - February 2nd 2020.

What a shame. I was there in November right after the announcement but before the liquidation began. It was one of the best stocked Kmarts I have been to in a while. The employees were very polite as well.
Wow! That is about the nicest Kmart I have ever seen! Looks like a Target or something. Why did we not continue making stores look like this??

Good, got rid of this. Now let's bounce Belleville, Avenel, Kearney, West Long Branch & West Wood. Put this thing out of its misery.

New Jersey always has such an interesting mix of everything. This might be the only place that Kmart and Whole Foods sat right next to each other. NJ actually has 10% of the remaining Kmarts!
Had a $400,000 remodel right before the massive store closures in 2016.
It was a former Caldor and started out as a Korvette's back in the early 1960s.
Feel especially sorry for the 25+ year employee who transferred to this store from Belleville last year only to find out two weeks later West Orange would be closing.
For many years, this store drew a lot of customers from surrounding towns as there is no Walmart or Target nearby. Suburban soccer moms and urban city dwellers were an interesting to see in one place.

@ggs+13jMKOm8 those other Kmarts aren't going to be around that much longer probably.
Lots of stores closing for the last time today. West Orange was a cool store, but New Jersey still has some Kmarts (for now, at least).
