I was told I was showing up on their list of noncompliant on days when I was in the office…so am I going to have to start taking picture evidence? Oh and our team was told we could work at home due to the severe weather in SF but then questioned why I wasn’t in the office? So now I’m also on the ‘bad list’ for something I was told was okay…so tired of this place

I was sick today and it is a planned day in the office and my manager has there head up the elite's po-p chute so I came in the office sneezing and coughing. I was told I could take PTO until I feel better if I wanted instead of staying in the office. Nope I luckily found a cube with nice low walls next to my manager so that they could get the full effect. I coughed nice and loud when they were on the phone. I am not taking PTO when I could work from home. Sorry suckers!!! The good news is the rest of the area is almost empty so the only one who will get sick is PooHead!
This honestly is like prison to me. I think it’s safe to say if you go in and productivity suffers you are ok and if you wfh and go above and beyond you will be punished. Goes with the whole upside down clown world. The tracking to that extent is disgusting.
I've heard from multiple people up my chain of managers/directors/execs that if you are not in the office for 6 hours, that day doesn't count. No one knew if that meant 1) being badged in, or 2) connected to the building network, or some combination of 1 and 2.
I stay for 1-2 hours.
My first day back in the office was today. So many people sneezing and sniffling. I spent more time walking around than working. This is the new way.
How long do you stay in the office building on days you go in? We've heard rumors that they don't count you as in office for the day if you're not badged in for at least 6 hours.
What other details have you been provided by your manager other than just being "non-compliant?" Did they give you a list of specific dates? Do you have receipts from food service at the building for those days? Maybe proof from you CC showing you purchased something at the building from those dates?
@izb+1kKkEeMv I know this but that is the exception process your manager isn't pulling the report they are getting some garbage from a reporting team somewhere. I bet your manager doesn’t even care about RTO.
In your group, managers might be the middle man, but in our group, that is not the case. If we're not in the 3 days, then we just provide the reason (weather, illness, exposure to Covid or other contagious illness, holiday, PTO, etc.). This info is provided so that if the managers get questions on why someone isn't meeting requirements, they have a response available.
It feels so flipping petty and childish to be tracked based on "attendance" like it's middle school rather than basing my value as an employee on performance and results. I'm one of the best performers on my team and I'm on the naughty list currently. There is zero reason for me to drive into the office and sit quietly by myself all day to work with people scattered about the country and in India. No one on my team and none of the people I work with are in the location that I'm assigned to. It is so petty and pointless to force this. I've posted here before that I'm refusing to comply because I don't really like the job and don't need the money, and I'm going to force their hand. I've told my manager this. We're playing chicken. What they don't know is that I will win, regardless of what they decide.
Again. Responses here that are not accurate. Team managers are the middle man they do not read reports and track resource RTO compliance. It comes from the division level.
In what fantasy world would you expect WF to get anything right?
Sounds like your manager isn't very good. In that case get everything in writing. My manager knows (because I tell her) where I'm at, when I'm going to miss a day here or there and I haven't been questioned on anything.
I haven't seen any reporting so I don't know if it's accurate for me. I want to see the reporting I'm being held to, but it seems so withheld, it's ridiculous. As for allowed exceptions to the 3 days a week requirement, supplement anything you're told with a written e-mail to your manager confirming what you were told and other relevant details like who granted that exception, when, etc. It's really d-mb that people have to do things like this, but WF can't do anything right so you have to CYA.
Uh oh
