Start looking for your next job now—before the layoffs happen. That way, if you do get laid off, you can collect severance while already having a great new job lined up. Best of both worlds!.
If you're fully remote, it's even easier since you can interview during the workday without taking much time off.
That's exactly what happened to me, and it turned out to be the best thing that could have happened. I found a company that truly values and cares about its employees. Looking back, getting laid off from Staples was the best thing that ever happened to my career. Thanks, Staples!

@f0 Nothing more than schadenfreude. Look it up if you aren’t familiar with the word.

@e9 You should learn punctuation and basic grammar. Maybe take a writing class.
What you state is a complete lie. I know too many people in the organization and have access to actual achievement numbers. MM is dying in all categories. I know that KPIs continue to change constantly for the worse. You are paid on quota achievement, not KPIs.
If you previously had 60 daily dials, you came from Maitland working on the smallest customers. KPIs were necessary for a team with no real sales experience and just looking for low hanging fruit.
Me.. I am retired after an exemplary career. Worry about yourself.

@a4 I think the mid market is the best it has ever been actually. Do we have some waste of time KPIs yes! But you need KPIs in a sale org cause if you are missing your quota you need metrics to measure where the potential short coming is and how to improve. They are still 1000 times better and more attainable than what we had when I start years ago with 60 plus dials a day and 3 hours plus talk time.
Also very few manager put pressure on KPIs and they are easy to achieve when you do what you’re supposed to do. If you’re getting pressure YOU are more the likely the issue. However I have seen few manager in the past who are very over the top about KPIs, maybe you are unlucky and got one like that idk. But to say mid market is doing horrible is insane when 75% of all reps are over 100% quota attainment.

@OP HC SIAE space is ROUGH. Sales are plummeting quickly. This space will be reduced in a matter of time I have confirmed.

@OP Commercial mid-market is a disaster. Reps being performanced out for not making stupid KPIs. Closed / won unattainable. Win / Ramp algorithm is broken and makes no sense. I2A requirement is inane. It requires at least 10 outbound calls to insignificant customers each day. A total waste of time and no focus on taking care of customers that move the needle. All because untalented managers selectively enforce these to reps that are smarter, more experienced and better than them.
Other reps are leaving because they are sick of the micromanagement. Weekly team calls are a waste of time and weekly 1 on 1’s that are a soul crushing beat down. Nothing positive. Just constant pressure on KPIs even if you are above quota. They are just task masters with no sales or management talent. Many of these “leaders” have failed several times in other management positions but continue to be given new roles.
The icing is who they hire as replacements. As senior skilled reps leave, positions either remain open for months or replacements are hired from unskilled talent pool. (Failed IKAMS, CSCs, Maitland or customer service.) They are all unskilled and business loss is as high as it has ever been because they are not qualified salespeople. All being set up for failure by these managers.
Zero accountability for this management cohort.
This all ends badly for Staples.
