Thread regarding SAS Institute layoffs

Will SAS end WFH?

President Trump does not support WFH policies. Will SAS end WFH like other companies?
Will you come back to the office full time?

@a4+1jkvtxezz While there were fully remote people with SAS prior to 2020 by the late 2010s they had clamped down hard on allowing remote for anyone not already doing so. As I was relocating I asked in 2018 and was told that not only did I have to work out of an office I could only transfer to a SAS office where my division already had someone which meant I could not stay with the company despite SAS having an office in the city to which I was moving and me being willing to work from it.

Reading these posts reminds me why all the good people left SAS. Holy cow are you people trashy. Your B+ C.S. GPA from your second-rate agricultural college does not entitle you to anything. I guess that's why you all focus on politics and have zero clue about technology.

@fa+1jkvtxezz Brilliant analysis. Hope you didn’t spend too much time coming to the conclusion that anonymous posts are opinions.

And apparently all posts with spelling, grammar issues are all from the same person…. Makes sense.

@er+1jkvtxezz typos don’t equate to “disjointed” English. That is a disjointed dime store conclusion :)

"in what is meant to berisive ways"? "they people who address him that way are no different"? Normally I wouldn't comment because mistakes happen, but from the disjointed English I suspect you are replying to yourself, my friend. Here's your (You).

And did you just assume their gender? Shame on you. How do you know Company Man isn't Company Woman?

@dx+1jkvtxezz Agree. They are all like little children. CompanyMan and they people who address him that way are no different.

@d9+1jkvtxezz Anyone who uses names like “Company Man” in what is meant to berisive ways is the actual troll. Leave “Company Man” alone and focus on all your negativity

@Company Man
Stop spending valuable company time here you hypocrite.

Company Man is a toxic troll. Like all trolls, Company Man gets off on the idea that they're rustling your jimmies. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. They imagine it to be so, therefore it is.

Feeding a troll is like feeding a dog at the table. It reinforces undesirable behavior. Company Man gets positive reinforcement from engagement. Don't feed the troll.

“ How’s your Wednesday going Company Man?”

My Wednesday is going really well. I’m working and being highly productive in exchange for a paycheck.

How is your Wednesday working at a place you hate? Probably not really working… Just feeding off the company teet like a widdle babyman. Since you like using dum--ss nicknames (like a certain president) I should do the same for you. BabyMan? VictimMan? LeechMan?

@ce+1jkvtxezz

Correct. But there are MANY of us who work from home MORE productively than when enduring daily round-trip commutes to an office. There is absolutely nothing about my job that requires a physical presence in any office - nothing. In fact, I would be less productive there as I am currently using my former-commuting time for working. It would be a bad decision to incur the unnecessary expense of opening buildings, providing associated utility expenses, office furniture, and parking facilities, only to receive less productivity.

SAS and any other company is free to eliminate WFH anytime they want. That decision has little or nothing to do with President Trump.

Waiting for the payoff, layoff, package, like 100s if not 1000s of others!

I loved going to the office every day, even during most of the Covid period but sadly they sold the building so has to WFH now. Lots of SAS countries have downsized their office space and cannot have everyone in the office anymore. But we are all grown up, we can make do with it.

Doubt it. SAS has employees who have been fully remote way before the pandemic made it the "in" thing.
