@f3 Anytime a company announces a multibillion dollar stock buyback, it’s stock goes up. Until the early 1980s, it was viewed as stock price manipulation, but suddenly it became an allowed practice. It basically means AT&T is buying back stock, making the shares treasury shares, and then awarding the shares back to executives as compensation. It’s using corporate capital to temporarily boost stock prices, indirectly pay execs, starve needs of the company, and not pay down the debt these same executives signed off on.

I met with my finance guy today. Time to take the cash balance and go. Told the boss, if they need to let someone go, I'm the one.

@OP well why don’t you look at his record since he’s been CEO compared to DOW and our debt is still around 150b. Our revenues have been stagnant. This has nothing to do with RTO collaboration. They are cutting jobs and moving to Mexico India and Eastern Europe. Wake up

"Why did T-Mobile set there stock price so high and AT&T set there stock price so low? Seems fishy."

It's time to do some reading on how the stock market works.

@OP I don't think you get it. Stock prices go up when companies cut expenses. The street knows that a mandatory RTO will result in reductions of headcount without the need to pay severances.

Ask yourself this - What has AT&T done to spur a minor uptick in the stock price? In simplest terms, stock prices go up when said company creates something innovative that everyone wants to buy, or 2. when said company cuts expenses. Employees are a great expense to cut. And for what? So Stankey can get a couple 100K more?

Nice try. Stankey's PR firm is getting desperate to change the narrative. Hard to undo the damage when your client is the laughing stock of the business world.

OP has never looked at a longer term chart or calculated opportunity loss due to inflation, let alone factored in the spectrum we gave to TMob and literally revived a dead competitor. Still need another $10 minimum to get back to where we were before Stinky and pals starting digging holes of debt oblivion (and generously paying themselves to bankrupt the company). But keep clapping like a trained seal; you totally won’t be laid off and replaced by H1B, Indian, college kid, or AI…….

First, if you look here: https://portfolioslab.com/tools/stock-comparison/TMUS/T Stankey has no reason to pat himself on the back.

Second, its all short term gain. He's ki-ling the company for the short-term stock price increase.

He's an id--t.

He undid two of the worst acquisitions in the history of business that he was a part of and then laid off a sh!t ton of people which Wall St loves. Genius stuff there.

Should we give him cookie?

Stink’s losing subs hand over fist. Just wait. At some point soon the books won’t be able to be cooked and the market will notice.
Lets see how much he loses on MX too. Genius of the clowns.🤡

Of course he is. I’m sure the OP is the Stank himself. The stock is worth about 1/2 what it was a few years ago. Only reason it’s up is because everything is up. Most stocks have grown more than that over the same time period. So was it something he did or is it just the market trend? I’m betting the latter.

yep, a stock as sh---y as Stank himself

There are mixed opinions and predictions regarding AT&T's future stock price. Here's a summary of negative points raised:

Bearish estimate revisions: Earnings estimates for 2025 have declined 3.27% in the past 60 days, while 2026 estimates are down 0.88%. This downtrend reflects bearish sentiments about the stock's growth potential. Insiders Selling More Shares: In the last 100 trades, insiders sold 1.51 million shares while buying only 385.75 thousand, indicating a negative sentiment from those within the company. Technical analysis suggests weakness: The stock has broken both longer-term and near-term downtrends. Resistance levels are condensed and close to the current price, potentially making it difficult for the stock to break above the high $20s. Risks related to competition and technology: Emerging technologies like Starlink could pose a threat by offering cheaper alternatives, and the transition to 6G may require significant spending, potentially leading to customer losses if competitors outspend AT&T. Regulation and technological changes: AT&T operates in a regulated industry, and changes in regulations or insufficient services could lead to government intervention. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

You do realize that the stock price generally reflects short term investors over long term stability? The first rule of MBA 101 is what's good for the stock price this quarter. You should read up on Ingvar Kamprad and why he opposed making IKEA a public company due to the fact that it would interfere with achieving the company's long term goals. As someone who spent 25 years there I am thrilled beyond words to have taken my payout and moved on. Honestly I had no idea how the culture at T was until I left and started working for company that actually treats employees like people.
