Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

I just hope the layoffs don’t spill into next week

It would make a huge difference to have some clarity, to know what’s coming and be able to prepare. This week has been incredibly stressful, mostly because no one knows where the cuts have been heading. But of course, the last thing leadership would risk is inconveniencing themselves by being transparent or considerate. At this point, I honestly can't tell whether it’s poor planning or just a complete lack of regard for the people doing the work.

The layoffs in Clifton have targeted managerial positions, including production planners, depot operations, customer service, and quality control, with some secretarial roles also affected. The Union employees were not affected but there's a hiring freeze for union jobs amid efforts by management people trying to get back into the union after leaving for management jobs . Good luck with that . You made your choice. Live with it

@f5 PV just needs to stall in court to eventually launch their 5th Gen and sell it to Lockheed for $$$.
The very next months Trump will mandate Lockheed move PV 5th Gen production to America since Lockheed sponsored the I.P…. MAGA has already taken the F35 supply network out of Canada, suppliers lost the program to USA.

In the short-mid term at least laid off Wescam people get a paycheck in PV. Many Wescam folks bounce into and out of PV anyway.

@e6 I was there when it was itt. Engineered for life. The worst thing they ever did was spin off their defense business into Excellis. Then acquired by Harris and then merged with L3. I was there for all of it. The board members from the old ITT who voted to spin off the defense business should be shoveling sh-t in he-l after they die.

@e6 Time to retire. There is nothing left in Clifton for you. All of your friends are gone. There's no reason for you to stay. It's time to go. Let it go L.

Not true. They lay people off with charge number. Younger people who get less pay are spare. I still work her almost 40 years. L3H is nothing compared to ITt. No appreciation

Algorithms don't care. The corporate leadership uses algorithms to determine which cuts to make. If at the end of a fiscal quarter, certain financial goals are not made, the algorithms instruct to immediately lay off those who charged the most to indirect labor. Your leadership feels no obligation to keep you informed of impending layoffs because corporate has determined that it's none of your business. At the end of the day, if the numbers don't come up to snuff, AI determines your fate in a millisecond.

It is kind of odd to expect anything different. The only way this company can show growth is through cutting costs, there is no organic business growth. If you can find another opportunity at or above your same level, don't even think twice about it.

Don't wait to be laid off. Don't assume you're exempt from it. It's easier to get a job while still employed. This company has no loyalty to you and they deserve nothing in return. Don't be a coward. Get brave and move on

In answer to the OP's question, it's a complete lack of regard for the employees doing the work. They pulled this same RIF and don't say anything BS back in March.

With no official announcements of a RIF, how they keep you guessing and constant stress every day.. about 1/2 of my coworkers are actively looking to move on for other opportunities.

L3Harris (or any company) cannot expect employees to put forth effort when their card could be pulled at any given notice. People can't work under the pressure of being let go every day lol

There is only 6+ months left for Uncle Chris to hit his LHX Next promise. They said previously they were on pace.
BUT that was before the U.S. Gov decided to FINE LHX for being naughty in declaring accrued costs for a program from L3 days.

This close to the LHX Next deadline, and our revenues on the low, OF COURSE layoffs are needed to buffer the $62M fine.

Feel bad for those affected in Wescam. I strongly recommend they pursue a willing employer for their skills in PV Labs down the road. Hope those laid off move to better things.
