Why not wait and move ICs who are laid off to the new teams. Seems weird we are hiring ETWs and laying off FTEs.

ETWs are frequently much more expensive than FTE, even without healthcare and bonus.
ETWs exist due to absurd headcount politics. That’s it.

The hateful comments are typical online troll behavior. This site is open to anyone to post. So most likely from outside of Nike with unfortunately nothing better to do than to stir other on because they don’t feel adequate in life themselves.
They hire ETWs because they do not have to pay unemployment and other taxes for contractors that they would for FTEs. They do not have to pay for their health benefits either, and all of the other perks that save them money.
They have extended the max amount of hours an ETW can serve before they have to take their mandated leave to 2 years.
They can hire ETWs fast, keep them for 2 years without having to pay the taxes on them, they can cut them easily, and have nothing to report to the state for layoffs, nothing for the media to report, and nothing for the shareholders to react panic about.

A team in an Org are only awarded headcount when they resource the org. whether by allocating more funds to the org or transferring a hc from a different team in the same org. Existing teams would typically not have any new HC $ awarded until beginning of next FY.
I dislike that they do not tell ETWs this. Leaders can't just "convert a role" from ETW to FTE because you're amazing.
I enccourage ETWs to keep applying for roles that they like all over the enterprise from the career site. You do not have to remain in that ETW role.

End all the contracts of ETW’s and retain FTE’s should be new norm to success! No point in keeping temporary workers from xyz Company and laying full Time employees! Bad decision to lay off employees instead of temporary contractors!

Why are teams still hiring DIRECTORS for functions that were just laid off but those people had highly successful on reviews?
Or often us ETW's are cleaning up the FTE's messes.
Because ETWs need not be paid Bonus and Stock match.
ETWs will deliver to VP's strategy and would not riot on the lawns
