Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Haven’t started my PDS

Im planning to not complete my PDS. Is it a fireable offense? System is rigged so it doesn't matter what i put down anyway.

Biggest annual raise I have ever with XOM was two years ago when I put one sentence per block it’s a joke.

Supervisor literally told me to put some bullets in copilot and he was going to copilot my bullets into a speech. Can’t get any clearer than that. Assessments are broken. As if they weren’t already.

I didn’t fill it out two different years and I still got pretty much the same raise as the years I filled it out. Of course that was in the days of XTO instead of XOM so it might have changed.

It is a popularity contest first and foremost. The most liked and personable employee will win the contest. The hard working ugly
laborer will lose. There is no fairness in this corrupt system. Always remember this. Only the favorites, family members, friends and connected will win these games. It is a sick process with only the judges and predetermined winners happy at the outcome.

@fr, no rat butts given, just stating facts…the system we have now satisfies the requirement of “ranking” employees based on a very loose definition of “performance” but costs the company far less time and effort. Is it a serious, fair system of rewarding employees for solid work performance and significant contribution to the company’s goals? Lol, no.

I’m retiring. My last day is June 30. I chose to complete my PDS only because I felt it was a fair thing to do for my supervisor. I didn’t want his superiors to look at him and ask why he couldn’t do his job just because I didn’t want to fill it out. But yes, it is so much bullsh-t

Puhleez.....the point of the buckets is to slam employees per HR direction. The old seriatiam caused much serious discussion and was taken seriously. Now it has nothing to do w performance. Don't dignify it by giving a rats butt, makes no difference

@e1 Dream on…Bucket ranking is far less time consuming than the old seriatim system and more beneficial to the company.

I'm suprised that with the corporate focus on removing waste someone isn't looking at the performance system.

I am serious. I'm sure there is business value to be gained in making modifications. It just doesn't make sense to spend so much time on something that you really have no influence over at the end of the day.

One employee years ago put "I have nothing else to contribute and I have reached the zenith of my career at exxon. He was retiring that year. The supervisor said I cannot present you with just that. The employee refused to add anything else and the supervisor put some things down. That year the employee recieve a good ranking. So it doesn't really matter what you do.

PDS was wordsmithed way less by supervisor this year vs. previous years. Bad sign or finally a smart supervisor to not make us overwork it?

Unless you have changed jobs, just xerox last years PDS without changing a word. No manager will know since your career has already been pre-determined.

I knew an employee in Clinton, New Jersey that xeroxed his PDS for ten years and no manager caught on until he announced it at his retirement dinner. Just goes to show you that many managers do not spend any amount of time comparing last years PDS to this years PDS.

Not optional. POTJ. Many people simply cut and paste previous year. Unless you're a Hi Po or there is some message your management wants you to convey regarding your work they'll be ok wnit

There are no limit on how many NI's you get, but 3 PIP's company will have to let you go. Not submitting PDS makes it a difficult job for your supervisor. He/She still have to speak for you during the ranking session. If you are not in a good relationship with yout manager he/she can just take the easy way out, put you on PIP and try save the remaining team members. I would say put in a few simple bullets for what you have delivered and cut and paste the rest from your previous PDS. Why make it easy for them?

Well with the way paybands are being lowered and downward pressure is being applied to the rankings more and more people are never going to receive any sort of meaningful salary treatment.

Ask yourself if spending a bunch of time on pds does any good for anyone? Even if you get excellent you still won't be rewarded. The only motivation is to stay out of NI or NSI.

I’m going full chat GTP and planning to spend five minutes max. I’ve found it doesn’t matter what I say on PDS. They already have their favorites picked out. No use fighting over crumbs.
