I worked in the IT department back in 2021 as a contractor through Randstad. Always promising us to be hired full time and kept getting pushed back. They have us doing member calls first then moving onto the providers, employers, and brokers after getting to know the job. They stuck me in the providers and employers quickly as I was a quick learner. Once I figured out my co workers were doing less work, I stopped doing as much. The manager would talk to me almost everyday about my lack of performance. I argued with him a couple times and he would back down. No one respected him. The other superiors except for my supervisor were all useless. We were remote workers so we used teams to communicate through the instant messaging. It would take 20 minutes for a superior to respond and most of the time it was useless. Then we would get blamed for not being efficient in the call. They got strict with scripting. We also had a chapter in the Philippines.
I had so many people complain to me about them not understanding the technical issue and just transferring to us. One day, my supervisor told me that I would be handling employer and broker calls as the Philippines office got exposed to covid so none of them worked that day. Mind you, I did not have training on those calls yet. When they saw I handled the situations well, they threw more work on me. So I pushed back by just fu--ing off and not taking calls for one to two hours at a time. I used that time to apply to other jobs and I would use the calls to network with people. my contract was ended in April of 2023 and I started in December of 2021.
My supervisor told me several months ago that our director had gone on vacation and when he came back, they pulled him in for a meeting and laid him off right there. My manager that no one respected was put in his position.
It's been much better since I was let go and I'm in a much better spot. If you can, get your exit plan. It's not worth it.
