Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

This is no longer the same company

Considering that the company is made up of people who are its most valuable asset and that the best and most professional people are laid off or have run away from here, this is no longer the same company I came to a few years ago. I believe that many share this feeling? There are still great people, but they are all slowly leaving.

@fvpw+1amtV5Ud TR may not be our mommy or daddy, but that is no explanation for what, in my opinion, has been a general disregard for treating many employees with respect. Showing respect to your employees costs little, but goes a long way to fostering good employer/employee relations.

"If you are near retirement age hang on until the inevitable RIF" - indeed. Yet another person who has noticed that many of those who are RIF'd are near retirement age.

Thomson Reuters is no better or worse than the vast majority of the large corporations. If it has declined, and it has, it is only in comparison to what it once was. RIA and Thomson were great places to work but when Thomson became Thomson Reuters the writing was on the proverbial wall. The corporation is not your mommy and daddy - it exists only to make money and our feelings don’t count but many of us have had a he-l of a ride. If you are near retirement age hang on until the inevitable RIF, if you are young then when the pandemic ends which it is ending already thanks to the vaccine - redouble your efforts today find a better job. However this brave new world of global outsourcing unfortunately is here to stay.

I have said it before, its a paycheck, not a career, so look out for yourself. Positive about TR, its at best a 9-5 gig, so that is a positive, and if you have a good manager it makes a world of difference. There is one sub segment leader that has turned over her staff 100%, no one wants to work with her, but she re—s.
