Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

A Message from the EMCC President

Dear EMCC colleagues:

I hope that this email finds you and your family well. I continue to be incredibly proud of what you have been able to achieve in the most challenging of circumstances.

We are committed to communicating with clarity and providing context for decisions being made across the corporation. You may have heard about today’s communication to Australian affiliate employees relating to a voluntary redundancy plan. While this announcement doesn’t directly impact the Chemical Company, it does affect many of our colleagues at a time when we’re all juggling multiple challenges.

I know that our EMCC team is well aware that the business environment continues to be very difficult, both in Chemicals and more broadly. In the most recent corporate earnings call we advised of the potential for further cost reductions from structural and organizational efficiencies and lower activity levels. This includes a careful country-by-country evaluation of business needs, which is ongoing.

Any implementation of additional programs will be communicated first to those in-country. The details of any program will vary and will address the different needs of the business as well as external factors. Recommendations that may result from the study work will be subject to consultation wherever applicable.

I understand that you will want to know more about potential impacts elsewhere in ExxonMobil; as this work progresses we will share updates as quickly and clearly as possible.

I deeply appreciate the resilience you continue to demonstrate, as well as the care you extend to your colleagues, customers and communities. Through your hard work and difficult choices we will emerge stronger from the current environment. Thank you for your support in these challenging times.

Sincerely,

@fxa+16K89nTu - amen to that! CSR needs to be shut down, remaining functions sent back to Paulsboro or to Houston, and the Clinton site sold to a big pharma company.

From what I've heard, they've got quite a fleet of planes just sitting around and a lot of pilots just hanging loose.

Trust no leaders supervisors.
They are walking zombies without a brain.
Lack empathy and sound judgement to value its employee

TLDR;

  • Times are tough.
  • The company will be laying off.
  • Each Country/Group is different.
  • Australia VRP.
  • No EMCC impact right now.
  • We'll keep you posted.
  • Thanks for your hard work.

Open and honest communication by the EMCC president. Good transparency to employees. Yes, chemicals is likely safer.

Geniuses. Thought they got the cat by the tail when they made a few $$$ a few years ago and they sold DW on betting all XOM $$$ in steam crackers to make plastic bags for a world that is banning them. And hire like crazy all the way to the bottom of the hiring pool, and then push this scum out to F&L or EMRE so that they had to fire their own people to make ends meet. All hail EMCC, the plastic bag kings and queens.

Chemicals is likely going to be less impacted than other functions, since they’re still profitable and not yet on a long term decline like E&P is rumored to be.

Missed opportunity for EMCC, totally ridiculous. As they say, when life gives you lemon, make a lemonade. EMCC just didn't do that.

Efficiencies and cost cutting masters , start with Corporate Strategic Research (CSR) in Clinton, NJ. A full fledged investigation is warranted to understand all the misuse of company money and deliberately creating hallucinating advertisement by its management.
