If I quit, I get 2 week salary. If I'm laid off, after 20+ years on the job I should get at least 6 month salary. So, I mostly have stopped working and have been waiting to be laid off. That was a year ago - still waiting. Dell should bring back the VSP and let us all dead meat go already.
Nepotism I disagree Moshe circle of Israeli engineers were just tight smarter bunch than average engineer and worked very long hrs. Regardless if you were from Israel or not he rewarded all his engineers with very handsome stock options and even lowest levels were millionaires.
In reality, the name of the company should be EMC because Dell is gone.
I worked for more than decade in EMC Engineering in the building where Moshe Yanai was. EMC in many ways was a corrupt organization with rampant nepotism and managerial body which was very much ol' boy's club with special preference for certain ethnicity. Don't miss them whatsoever.. Fairness was a dirty word at EMC..
Thought most/all severance packages for the average Joe/Jane was 2-3 months pay plus a week for each year of employment.... sounds like they might have made a mistake and need to add a zero.
A thousand dollars and what else? If that is all you are getting for a severance package, you are being shortchanged.
I bolted Dell in October for a better opportunity and better pay. The Dell from many years back stopped existing after the EMC merger. In reality, the name of the company should be EMC because Dell is gone.

Never understoood why people think they should/will be paid a lottery prize to stop working and leave. If you dont like it go somewhere else
