Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

"temporarily" closed stores cleaning out everything

Any store that has been temporarily closed has been ordered to clean out all of the inventory either send it back to crtc or to other local stores that are open. The safe should also be cleared out. A district manager said clean it out like you're never going back.

a leaked document in New Jersey is floating around showing the plan to convert many next-gen stores into Express stores. ( Self-service ordering in-store pickup only non commissioned employees)

Also a plan for closure of stores and conversion into indirect.

Also in this document any employee in a work from home position should expect to remain in that position even if stores start to open back up. The expectation is that traffic will be lower then before has social distancing guidelines will remain in effect causing call centers to have an influx

Once stores open hours will be significantly different than before and so will staffing levels.

Major changes to commission structure will happen once commissions returns.

basically the company is taking this opportunity to make major changes that they had planned to happen over multiple years this virus has just fast-tracked all their plans as they believe customer behaviors are being forced to change and they are going to capitalize on it.

@gfbc+14v3NQtP I don't know what's going on in your area.. but I'm a GM and my store was packed up and every last item was sent back. My store is a mall location.. and it has been on an at-risk list for a few years. There was a team of three of us that cleaned out the store and we were told to make sure every employee's personal items were also taken out. I don't know what this means in the long term. But I do think it is very likely that some stores will not reopen. As a GM of a mall location I can tell you the amount of loss is incredibly high. Very high rent store hours dictated by the mall management company leading to overtime holiday pay Sunday pay etc. There is also a higher level of theft. The foot traffic is mostly older people that aren't looking to spend money. Mall locations are not attractive to Verizon. I can't imagine malls that has been hanging on can survive after all this. All I can tell you as my experience I do believe the original post maybe a little extreme.. but at least my leadership has mentioned some of the things are being discussed.

Here’s another ridiculous post lol. Sorry but what’s being said in this post is completely untrue. Stores were no where close to cleared out. They sent back items to CRTC only no local store transfers. Items that were sent back were devices or accessories that were back ordered. Probably just another union rep posting trying to stir the pot. If you believe anything on this site you’re just paranoid and looking for reasons.

This is absolutely untrue. There’s a current pullback in place. You were asked to clean your stuff out so it can be cleaned and sanitized before it reopens. There is a reopening phase that’s already started and more coming next week. The direction from HQ was to prepare a pullback of dead stock for about 5% of the current inventory to help offset operational costs during the temporary closures (I believe the figure was tens of millions in savings).

It’s one thing to share rumors, it’s a completely different thing to share misinformation when there are people working on these projects that read these threads.

It is true dead inventory just sitting there is capital that isn't being used. The most locations and districts inventory was moved to open locations within a week of the locations closing. This is something totally different. I was one of the people voluntold to go into a closed mall location and clean it out. This was not a push back. This was something totally different. Clean out employees lockers. Take photos of all computers and desk phones. Doing an inventory of company assets in the store? Something is up

@6fgf- pullbacks don't pull the entire inventory and safe back! Don't lie to people.

They are only redistributing stock. They do it every month. It’s called a pullback. Most of our sales are going through online or telesales so the warehouse needs stock to fill orders.

You don’t need to panic or worry about stores closing for good. Retail channel makes 3 times that of any other, we’re not going anywhere

Phase 3 is to start soon and you all will be back to work soon enough. Then we can get back to how much we hate Verizon and how unfair they are

He is not a criminal. He is the sweed we need. Who else could have gotten us through these hard times. If he is such a bad guy why does everyone support him. He gave us 110% bonus be grateful! So what if we're working harder with less benefit. A little hard work never k–led anyone.

Ha ha.

The person who said give Hans a break.

Take the opportunity to Google Hans Vestberg Ericsson.

He got fired from Erickson it was actually tried in Sweden for corruption.

The dude is a con man.. you have been conned.

But he really cares.... About his bottom line not you

At first reading this I was like... More bull sh–. But then I started to read up on the express stores found the press release from Verizon and then read the press release a few days ago about the touchless retail experience it is shockingly similar terminology used and how they're trying get customers to think this is a good idea.

I think a lot of this information is probably over dramatic in this post however anyone sitting at home getting paid not thinking that Verizon is working out plans is just ignorant.

There's got to be discussions going on about the reopening process and also would changes they can make when they do.

Can we all just give Hans a break. The guy cares about the company and is working his hardest to help the company through these difficult times. Sometimes difficult choices have to be made.

2 stores in my area are doing the clean out soon. They have to work with the amor car service and FedEx to have it all coordinating. The management team is going in to do it. It is not every store in this area but some of this is happening here.. the reason given here was for security purposes.

I haaaaaaate how someone will post something, and yes there is generalization in it, but it goes without saying it won't be the same everywhere. But here comes someone, or here 2 people arguing the exceptions. The information has value, and will be a reality for some people. Why try to discredit it? Drives be bananas.

Even though most of your post makes sense you failed to mention that this directive is specific to certain areas of the country. As you know 70% of the VZW retail locations are “ temporarily “ closed. The directive does not include most of the 70%...for now. The staffing levels in most stores is already low so I don’t see a problem with shifting reps around if certain stores permanently close or change to a different format. The big take away from this is an almost certain lay-off of retail management. There was already talks on this board about a RIF and VSP, although I don’t think it will be voluntary now.
