Not all jobs are open - Round 3

Looks like not all people or positions are open or need apply. What's the method used to say who is in and who isn't? Is it the position? Merit? Diversity? It's a sad day if this is based on gender or ethnicity.

The most interesting thing I noticed was how many people on the selection teams were not named in R2. So people supposedly competing for a job are also in charge of the selections.

It’s all about how many boxes you check.

The number of uncheck box positions is being limited in this lay-off.

No check, single check, double check or the highly coveted triple check.

Manager get rated in the number of checks they can collect, if they decrease in check over a year there rating goes down. If they increase the checks there rating goes up. Get it. That’s how the system works. Follow the checks

BTW, only those in scope for R3 can preview the jobs of interest via CTO application system during the week of August 10.
Right now, most are guesses except those few who are directly involved

“spoiler alert”... not exactly, but close. Just like other ROMs it is too hard to rethink the whole system so they will place a few pet projects in the grid and then go through the rest cutting 50% here and 35% there. When done with the list, HR and legal will make a pass, swap in a few women and minorities and out the lowest ranked in the first sort...and repeat until the final cut number is reached. A little swap and trades between job owners to pull back in a few dropped stars and best boys and then bring it up stairs for the final stamp. Done. It is not that hard to envision, because it is basically the same every time. All the rest is hot air and back side protection.

spoiler alert: they have already made up their mind on who is going to be selected in the new org chart.....doing a selection event to review the applicants based on GO400s is merely a formality....

@ghi - there won’t be any promotions. Middle management are going to get reduced by same percentage or more than those at the coal face. This won’t be like any of the earlier cuts (Alpha, ROMs etc). A lot of good people will be left standing.

The positions that are not open have an employee the company wants to keep. The open positions have an employee the company would like to replace. Simple as that.

That the million dollar question within for the rank and file at ETC and I am sure other branches: Is the lowest-level structure preserved (with reduced head count obviously) or will there really be a complete reload of the organization. My bet is Unit managers will become chapter heads and team leads will become project managers and all will look similar but for half the desks empty. Sounds like we will finally see the plan next week!

how naive to expect that 100% of the position can be open. You can not do a total team swap, there needs to be continuity.

You all need to read the FAQs on the transformation website. It talks about all of this

A little thing called business continuity, not feasible to expect 100%.
