I was never exactly embarrassed to work for Intel. In silicon valley I did have a self inflicted sense of inferiority when out at lunch seeing all the other badges go by.

As for the poster below that would never tell his new coworkers at “green” company, that seems weird. People who get hired out of Intel are always respected and are jokingly called the lucky ones.

Intel is not a help on CVs due to the way people from Intel write their CVs as if they are going for an internal promotion.

For example: Led a 30 person task force on dry etch module defect reduction. Saved $100,000,000 and was critical to shipping 1274 on time.

Almost every intel CV is fluffed up with obvious BS. Other tech companies just want to know where you are an expert and give concrete examples of your invention. Unfortunately Intel’s management by committee makes it hard to differentiate yourself as an innovator since there are 15 CVs out there right now claiming to have invented EMIB. Or worse, you’re a module engineer in a fab and your experience is just TEL spin coater. What the he-l are you expected to put on your CV other than some fluff about cost savings and defect reduction. Come interview time you get asked, “how did you save $50MM by defect reduction?” And all your answer is by reading spc charts, getting field techs to replace valves and nudging rework to take a closer look at their recipes.

Hiring managers see enough of these CVs and hear uninspiring answers a few times, yes having Intel on your CV is a bit of a red flag, but only when its full of hyper inflated BS.

If you want to get a slightly lower paying manufacturing job in the Midwest, intel is great on your CV and you can be the big fish in the small pond, but maybe only making $150k

I’m not embarrassed at all. It’s a job. Not my first or last. Just time to move on.

I’ve been here nearly 30 years , and will retire without any embarrassment- I have lots of positives and experiences that are super valuable and helpful outside of Intel. That said ; it is embarrassing to work here now , if young and career building it’s not the high value asset it used to be in career growth.

Most people don’t blame the workers for the farce ; they look at management… and they just blame each other ….

Eh, saying you're from Intel is like telling the hiring manager you got a liberal arts degree at Berkley.

Not embarrassed honestly. They paid me for my services. Am I disappointed in them? Fu-k yes. But not ashamed. As long as I get paid and like what I do I'm fine. Who cares what anyone else thinks where I work ? 80% of the country probably dose t come close to what we make at Intel for what we do. But hugely disappointed in the leadership no doubt. Dave should be fired

Yes I was and still am ashamed. A great company and bad/toxic people.

I joined green company and people will not respect me if I every tell that I came from intel.

If only the public could see how this place is ran! I could tell the family we are #1, and a step function ahead of our nearest competitor over the years, but now we are buying chips from our main competitor (who probably doesn't see us as its main competitor anymore) since we can't make them! Really gets me angry, to see this (especially with the free money the Feds are giving us), I have pride in what I do, but small peg in a sinking ship...

It is always fun to have to explain to regular people why Intel is doing so horrible yet the semiconductor industry is red hot

Yes. I'm even more embarrassed to admit I got a competing offer from AMD in 2021 and chose to come here because the salary was a mere 5k more... lol
