He is happier than he has been in years. If you are miserable leave. Why do people act like they have no choice in life? Is it laziness?

I was hMobil. Spent lots of time in New Orleans. Now with XTO. Have gone through a lot of changes, but still am thankful for the company for keeping me on for my superior knowledge in compression

@1gws+1fNRdakl Pushing towards 40 years here. I cannot complain about pay. Why are you concerned about spreads? Savings Plan increasing? Mine is. Pension increasing overtime? Mine is. Sounds like all you young bucks are looking for a happy daycare that pays lot and gives you trophies for participation. Bunch of Lia Thomas’ on this board.

My cuz left. While he and I were in very different roles, I do know he is so much more depressed after leaving than when just putting up with the Exxon way. He’s not doing great.

I transitioned from XOM to another company outside of oil and gas. Not only did I manage to get a good paying job but it actually pays a bit more than what I was making at XOM. No I don't have any wild claims of making twice or 3x as much now like some folks (my XOM pay wasn't bad). However, the pay is still better now and the savings plan is way better.

More importantly I actually look forward to going to work now and am learning new things. Something I had not felt for several years and was even starting to feel was no longer possible. If anything I feel victorious like I won something big. Sounds kind of silly, I know. But yet, every day now I find myself thinking "holy $h1t, I won. I made it".

At the end of the day people need to decide how much $$$ is enough for them and would they want to stay in toxic environment. Including our CEO, I have heard multiple people what I infer is that they have got addicted or used to the "lifestyle" that XOM salaries afford them. These folks def. havent looked outside at all to know that their perceived lifestyle afforded by $$$ paid by XOM us underrated. The only saving grace for XOM job was somewhat of a career stability it provided workers. And with mis managed layoffs, PIPs, 1 year contracts everyone has seen XOMs ugly side now and should better know that all employees are now are HC10. Career stability is no longer their for XOM western employees, however the cultural toxicity is nowhere to go anytime soon.

The workers bees (mgmt. excluded as everyone knows they are special and get better treatment and protection) who have been lured by or hung on the pension carrot really haven't cared to know how much pension money the company puts into there pension fund every year. Folks, it is about 10% of your yearly salary that the company puts into your pension account every year.

So given that the company puts in 10% of your salary into the pension fund if let's say you are getting paid $100k a year, that's $10k the company puts in your pension fund which is a good chunk but not a very significant chunk anyways. So if you get a job outside of ExxonMobil that pays $110k a year (if not more, XOM salary is not competitive for non core jobs) you can invest that $10k in your investment account or retirement accounts where you also have more fund choices. And if you do this diligently and with discipline every year than so called investment will act as a self financed pension fund that may grow the same if not more like XOM pension, plus you don't have to deal with mgmt. and toxicity at XOM. Now if you love this kind of work environment or don't have any transferable skills outside of XOM than I feel for you.

In my case, before leaving XOM I reached out my EY planner and have him run the numbers for me and based on it if I invested 10% of my salary my return would have been better than the pension growth in XOM pension fund. So I quit XOM with a better salary + bonus + stock options. And now I invest additional 15% into my self funded pension like investment and don't have to deal with id--tic management, broken culture, poor ranking system, and fake people.

Wish you all Xomers the best! Keep pensioning if that's all you will trust and find a value in this company.

The lack of transferable skills and the dangling carrot called a pension keep people here. All of the folks who joined in my new hire cohort in 2020 have either left or are actively interviewing. They still have the veneer from their universities, so the transferable skills aren’t as important, and they aren’t vested in the pension yet.
